Final Fantasy XV General Information and FAQs.

Final Fantasy XV is the latest instalment in the mainline Final Fantasy franchise which many of us has grew up with, set to launch for the PS4 and Xbox One. The release date is still unannounced as of 14/6/13. Previously FFXV was called FF Versus XIII because it was the creator (Tetsuya Nomura)'s ambition to design a Final Fantasy based on his own interpretation of Fabula Nova Crystallis. In E3 2013 Sony's Press Conference, FF Versus XIII's trailer was shown and revealed to be FFXV.

Wait...does FFXV or FF Versus XIII has anything to do with FFXIII?

No. FFXV is an independant FF title, as it has ZERO relationship to Lightning's trilogy and FFXIII games in general, other than only sharing a common mythology and goddess which are interpreted differently. FFXV and FFXIII series do NOT take place in the similar universe.

What differentiates FFXV from other Final Fantasy?

FFXV is a full Action Role-Playing game as opposed to other 14 Final Fantasy which utilize either turn-based (FFI to FFIII and FFX), Active Time Battle (FFIV to FFIX and FFX-2), Active Dimension Battle (FFXII), Command Synergy Battle (FFXIII, FFXIII-2), the MMO's battle systems.

Okay, where can I see the trailers or gameplay footage of this game?

All credits to the user who compiled all the information there. It's quite comprehensive but please note that some of the things written there are no longer valid, such as the moving faces of the characters in the battle screen has been removed. However based on what I've read personally, many of the stuffs written are accurate and some referenced, although we never know what will make it to the final product.

Few key point which may be of your interest.

- Environment interacts with players and enemies. The boss fights and major enemy battles aren't just a script being played. Consequences can happen differently due to our course of action during combat.

- There WILL be a controllable airship as well as other land transports like cars, a Magitek armor, tanks, Chocobos, possibly a motorbike and so on.

- World map in 3D. You can travel as far as your eyes can see other than those high altitude mountains.

- Dynamic day and night cycle, something rarely seen in a mainline Final Fantasy game. Enemies are different in the day and night.

- Summons are in the game, earned by defeating them in battle.

- More than 4 playable characters in total, 3 characters in battle and each characters can be controlled individually during battle, although Noctis is always present in party due to storyline purpose and the use of magic.

- Monster size varies from places to places. A form of adaptation is used possibly. This explains why Leviathan seen in 2013 E3 trailer is huge. It emerged in a city, so the size tends to be bigger for more impact.

- Noctis is not restricted to only swords. He can use axes, lances, guns and so on.

- "Weíll have a level and upgrade system to be operated, it doesnít mean that because in the trailers he has all those weapons the player will too when they actually start the game. "
-Tetsuya Nomura on the Gameplay System

-"Well, if the player isnít able to level up by his own work and fighting itís not an RPG, right?"

May I suggest that you add some quotes from Nomura regarding the name/platform change:

Nomura says during the interview that Final Fantasy Versus XIII was large enough in scope within the first year or two of having been announced, that Square Enix had already considered rebranding it as Final Fantasy XV. It was decided two years ago that it would shift to next-gen consoles and it was officially decided to move the title over as Final Fantasy XV sometime last year.
