What's the general opinion of FFV?

I will be playing it in about a week. How's the story? How are the characters? I love good characters. I also heard that the job system is pretty good so I'm looking forward to that.

Story is ok, but Galuf is awesome.

I love the characters and the story was nice and basic, making it much more bearable imo. The class system was beyond fun and the music was darn good. Galuf is one of my favorite characters of any FF and imo the strongest for fighting Exdeath one-on-one while on deaths doorstep and won!!! YES I SAID STRONGEST!!! Now don't get me wrong it has flaws but many great entries, the good outweighs the bad.

8/10 Great game

Bartz>>>Most of the other protagonists too. Very underrated guy.

Wonderful game, absolutely love it.

Only complaint is replacing GALUF with Krile.

Galuf is absolutely flawless.

Story is solid, classic FF. The characters are decent, Galuf is probably the best of them. I would describe Bartz as a toned-down Zidane. The job system is hailed as one of the best, but for me , that was my least favorite thing of the game. This could be because I played it after playing FFI-IV without a break, but I generally hate the job system, not just in this game. The real treat of the game for me was the final boss. As I said, I've been playing all the FFs in order and pretty much been overleveling all of my playthroughs, this one included, but I was surprising challenged by the final boss and had to attempt it at least 3 times before finally winning.

Now, I'm really excited to play the game. I'll try not to be too hyped though.

It's sort of like the Austin Powers of FF games; the story is whimsical and funny, and while some of the characters are a little flat there are some true gems of characters like Exdeath and Gilgamesh.

The job system is one of the most amazing thing I have ever scene in a JRPG if you are into customization.

I disagree. Gilgamesh's primary purpose can be found through other characters and Exdeath would definitely fall into the flat category.
