status effects

what new status effects should they have and what status effects should return? for example heat and frozen from final fantasy ix should return imo

Burning, freeze and poison are by default in this game.

I can't think of any effects that i want since most of time these effect are very same-y.

I wonder how bad "slow" is going to be now that its action based. I think Star Ocean had something that made you move slower and was extremely annoying.

as for NEW status effects?
i've always wanted a joke command status where your commands LOOK the same but FUNCTION differently.

like how some games have a "status effect" where your direction is all messed up. left is up, up is right, right is down. you're like WTF WHERE AM I GOING?! HRFGHDGH ARGHH!!!!

ex: Magic wouldnt cast magic, it would use an item or do a physical hit.

If slow is in, I'd like to see haste return as well for the sake of being not only a useful buff, but an effective counter spell.

Blind and confuse could turn out to be fun in an action rpg so I'd like to see that.

Meltdown could return because inflicting 0 defense was almost always useful.

I'd also like to see peerless or aura return. Not necessarily because both were extremely useful and even borderline broken, but because I like the yellow/golden aura. Makes me feel like I'm controlling super saiyan's or G Gundam fighters. lol

Temper: Increases physical attack power.
Faith: Increases magical attack power.
Protect: Reduces physical damage and lowers chance of hit-stun.
Shell: Reduces magical damage and gains immunity to further negative status effects.
Invisible: Target becomes transparent and gains immunity to physical attacks but magical attacks take double damage.
Anti-Magic: Target gains immunity to magic attacks but physical attacks take double damage.
Regen: Recovers HP over time, lasts for a long time.
Invincible: Cast by Alexander, gains immunity to physical and magical attacks for a short amount of time.
Rearise: Cast by Phoenix, auto-resurrects the target when it falls.
Berserk: Greatly increases physical attack power; when the Attack command is pressed the character will ceaselessly keep attacking for a while.
Blind: Disables the Attack command.
Silence: Disables pretty much all kinds of magic.
Burn: Fire elemental status effect, drains quite a bit of HP, lasts only a short amount of time, lowers Attack and Defense.
Freeze: Ice elemental status effect, target is covered in ice and stands completely still for a while, increases Defense.
Paralyze: Lightning elemental status effect, commands might switch to "Paralyze", if pressed when "Paralyze" is displayed character freezes for a sec.
Poison: Drains a bit of HP, lasts for a long time.
Slow: Slows down movement and attack speed for a while.
Stop: Target stand completely still for a while.
Mini: Target shrinks, Attack and Defense are lowered.
Frog: Target turns into a frog, Attack and Defense are greatly lowered.
Zombie: Healing items and spells henceforth hurt the target.

I guess those are the ones I kinda wanna see?

Reminds me of Earthbound lol.

Imagine bunch of grown ups with mushroom on top of their head and needed to see 'specialist' in hospital to "sell" these away.

Burning, freeze, poison, slow, stop, frog, stun, haste, auto-life, regen, curse, barrier, magic barrier, confusion, petrify, float... I think these would all have interesting effects and visuals in an action RPG such as this.

How should status effects be applied I think is the better question....RNG like usual, or a new way, kinda like Dark Souls where your stats, and getting hit repeatedly determines application

I feel like in Action games where the player is in control of the character completely as opposed to acommand based game, the Dark Souls way is more...fair? or Practical I guess
