Impossible Blood Contract Scenario?

key_of_destiny0Posted 7/19/2012 7:25:33 PM
I'm doing a hard mode run with my own challenge rules, and I'm on Blood Contract but my Daein army has been decimated. Is there any way for me to beat the level? Here are my units.

Micaiah (Light Sage) lv. 5
-Light Magic level is about a C and a half, so can't use the Purge I get at the start
-A Support with Volug

Sothe (Rogue) lv. 11
-Notable weapons are Beast Killer and Silver Dagger
-B Support with Zihark

Tauroneo (Lance Gen) lv. 15
-Notable weapons are Short Axe and Silver Lance

Zihark (Trueblade) lv. 1
-B Support with Volug
-Notable weapons are Celestia (a forged steel sword with 12 Mt and 15 Crit) and a Killing Edge
-Adept

Volug (Wolf) lv. 16
-A Support with Micaiah

ABILITIES
-I have guard and pass that I can assign

I've played this map through a dozen times and always lose. I've tried the defense strategy but the hawks always get me since I don't have Jill to take them out. I've tried using Zihark with Pass to take them out but he's too fragile to take hits (2 Tiger hits kill him). I've also tried using Zihark with Pass to attack Ike ASAP, but the closest I've gotten is getting Ike to 6 HP and then the laguz around him beat Zihark. Each of Zihark's hits on Ike do 6 damage with Celestia, and I don't have a Brave Sword which I know would be really useful.

So, is there anything I can do to win?

Pass on Tauroneo, boots if possible, promote him with a crown or bexp, and go luna ike

Similar to the Zihark strat but you should have no problem dealing enough damage

I already used Boots on Zihark actually, but I can try that with Tauroneo. I don't have enough b.exp so I'll just use a crown.

Tauroneo without boots can't really get to Ike fast enough. I'd have to leave him exposed on all sides but he can't take 4 attacks in one turn. By the time I get him to Ike alive, the laguz have killed most of my allied troops and the hawks can cross the line.

Are your allies on halt? The snipers should kill the Hawks by themselves.
Deploy Fiona, Aran and Leo too. If the sniper misses you can try to shove/rescue the sniper out of the way and have Leo have a go. His hit rates aren't too hot though. He can also easily one shot the hawks with Lugh.

You definitely have enough units to last through this chapter. And like mentioned if you just can't seem to do it you can always try to have Zihark astra Ike to finish early.

Is it possible to forge a slightly stronger sword for zihark? If he's putting Ike at 6 HP then even just +1 MT should be able to get that kill

When set to Roam, the ballista archers tend to kill the first two hawks. The next two can be slowed by having the rest of your allies targeted to jam up either the left or right side (I prefer left) while you try to kill whatever hawk goes the other way.

Zihark on the left in front of the Ballista, blocking the ledge and path so only 1 Laguz can attack per turn. Weapon optional (gets experience but risky in killing too much and dying himself)
Tauroneo on the right in front of the Ballista, blocking the ledge and path. Weapon optional (he can probably fight back actually, but be careful).

Block the centre ledge with any three characters. Set the allies on halt.

Whenever a Hawk moves into range of a Ballista, set allies on Roam. Keep retrying until they don't miss with the Ballistae (they have a pretty good hit rate, shouldn't take more than 2-3 tries).

Easy win.

I've gotten Tauroneo to directly attack Ike about 10 times now and he still hasn't used Luna on him. His skill is 24 so I guess it should be a 12% chance?

@Hate: I don't have those units. I'm doing a custom run with my own rules which is why this level's so ridiculously difficult now.
@Kirby: Forge isn't offfered at this base.
@Tables: I'll try that next.
