I don't get what's funny about that line - it's incredibly homophobic.

Whoever made this game has some serious balls. Using a homophobic MC in a game in 2012 is pretty risky.

I agree. It's not exactly a funny line....

Humor is subjective. Don't start this again.

Stop agreeing with your alts just to start up a ruckus again.

I do not have alts and I am not trying to start a ruckus.

I am just sharing my opinion about the game and the scenes in question. If you consider that starting a "ruckus" then don't respond to me.

lol, ruckus....

Look guys, I'm the one who said that it's homophobic in the first place because to me, it most certainly is.

I don't know what this has to do with alts (I'm not even sure what an alt is supposed to mean).

Wasn't trying to start a bunch of drama.

OT I guess,

but Zinformant: I've been wondering about YS origins for awhile. I liked YS 7 a lot but I heard that Origins plays a lot differently?

Yep, here's the scoop. It's all Ys goodness, so check out whichever ones interest you.

Avoid the related videos on all videos since they're full of spoilers and the like.

Origin (Steam)
My favorite...a platformer that lacks side quests, but it's very streamlined and actually has interesting characters since you don't play as the series' silent protagonist. Three playable characters all with different playstyles and unique bosses, five difficulty levels (Very Easy to Nightmare), it's great! There is a demo up, too.

I and II (PSP, DS, Other)
These games play on the 'bump' system. You bump into enemies instead of tap a button. It sounds worse than it is; it's actually really fun! That said, Ys 1 is really short and makes you hunt for some odd and oddly placed items as you go, so the PSP version even includes a walkthrough in the manual. Ys 2? It's great!

III
The Oath in Felghana (PSP, Steam)
This is the fan favorite, but it's also very challenging. I'm pretty sure it does not have a demo on the Steam store, so here's some videos. Like Origin and Napishtim, it's a platformer.

VI
The Ark of Napishtim (PS2, PSP)
Also a platformer like Origin and Felghana (though by far the worst of the three), this one is more standard Ys fare. And, you like grinding, even this one will appeal to you because you have to do some of that here, whereas it's less needed in other titles (though always fun, I'd say). Note the PSP port is inferior due to load times and lack of voice acting, but it's playable.
Napishtim Gameplay

I pulled that segment in particular because, as you can see, it's a platforming nightmare in this area. I'm warning you, I suppose.
Napishtim Boss (first major boss)

This fight isn't spectacular, but I don't want to spoil anything else. At least you get a taste for the music.

VII
Seven (PSP)
This one uniquely plays on the 'party' system where you run around with up to two other characters all with different 'type' of attacks and ranges (I usually play as the archer whenever possible, for example, which is very different from swinging a sword). It's fun but in a different way from 1 and 2 and the platformers. It's also your best bet for a starting place alongside Origin and Felghana. Its best selling point is probably its length. Ys games tend to be on the shorter side; this one's twice as long or more than the others.

You are incorrect about two things:

1. The game came out in 2011 in the US.
2. The game originally came out in 2004 in Japan.

Just stating your incorrect facts, not going to touch your opinion with a ten foot pole.

I didn't know that since I didn't research the game extensively - I just played it because it looked fun.

I still think it's incredibly homophobic, but I realize that in reality, a lot of people actually are homophobic.

Anyways, thanks Zinformant. I think I might go get YS Origins.
