Yeah falcom is pretty anti grind you should finish up your sidequests and move on with the story.

It's like that in all the Kiseki games; unless you avoid encounters a lot, you're always going to end up getting single-digit XP by the end of a location.

For some reason, the topic title reminded me of l i t t l e m o n e y.
If you enjoy RPGs, please consider purchasing Trails in the Sky for your PSP/Vita on PSN and supporting XSeed's translation efforts on this massive undertaking.

Yeah, it's Falcom's not-so-subtle way of telling you that you're overleveled.

Although "overleveled" usually has a negative connotation that the person spent time grinding, but in Kiseki you'll run up against their soft level cap even if you're just fighting normal battles while exploring.

Yes in fact I shining pom farmed to unlock all 6 of Joshua and Estelle's slots and hit level 14+ in the Prologue hence I only gained more then 1 to 10 exp per fight late chapter 1/early chapter 2 once you start fighting level 20+ enemies.

While this is true in the later games in Zero/Ao No Kiseki shining poms are worthless for exp and are rare enough that trying to fight them for sephiths of all 7 elements isn't worth it either.

In Kiseki the 3rd you can no longer use most elements the poms in the 3rd will be immune to All 7 so only Magic based S crafts will come close to killing them instantly.

Yeah, the game is saying that you are fine and no need to fight the normal enemies any longer if you don't want to. Honestly, you can mostly avoid them once it goes below 10 XP per battle.
