I hear a lot of positive reviews on this and portal 2.. I'm just trying to figure out what its like and if I should try it. Should I just go to portal 2? Or should I play portal 1 first?
It's possible to play portal 2 first, the first few levels are designed to integrate new players into the game. However I highly recommend playing the original first, as you'd have a better understanding of the storyline and all the jokes and references.
And yes Portal is awesome, definitely worth your time.
You should really consider playing Portal before Portal 2, as you will probably not understand half of the references otherwise. Portal 1 is short but very enjoyable, and also very cheap on Steam now.
If you enjoy crisp graphics, fantastic voice-acting, have a great sense of humor and enjoy puzzles then this game is for you. The end levels can be somewhat challenging but that's what makes it so much fun.
I wish both games were a bit longer, but I would definitely rate them both 5/5 in terms of story, game-play and creativity.

You can find out for yourself FOR FREE - the demo, which is about half of the whole game is free to download. It's called 'Portal: First Slice'.
Just go here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/400/
Also, play Portal first - it's a great game but because Portal 2 is slicker and has more to it, Portal will seem a step back if you play Portal 2 first. Plus, Portal has SO MANY mods out there, I've had endless hours playing so many mods that are of course all free.
Plus there's the story and stuff which won't make sense if you play Portal 2 first.
Portal Is So sadistic, Yet hilarious in many ways!!! SPOILERS!!! SERIOUSLY THERE ARE SPOILERS HERE, IM NOT KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!! OK YOU ASKED FOR IT!!! I think that the story for portal is funny, and i thought GLaDOS' Lines were so funny, especially when you battle her!! The Ratman dens are sooo cool!!
