Mini Crop FAQ: Sunlight and Water Requirements with Full Crop List

Crop FAQ – Water and Sun There seems to be a lot of questions about the crop system in this, so I have put this together to see if it will help. Growth Stages Crops grow in stages. The first day is always the seed stage. This is followed by 1-4 growth stages in which the plant increasingly matures. To get to the next growth stage, 3 things need to have happened: 1) The minimum number of days in the growth stage need to have passed. 2) The crop needs to have received the minimum level of sunlight. 3) The crop needs to have received the minimum level of water. Sunlight The only way for the crops to get sunlight is during certain types of weather. Sunny days (blazing sun icon): 3 Fair (sun with straight lines for rays): 1 All other weather: 0 The Greenhouse gives +1 light every day Water Crops can receive water from the weather as well as from you physically watering them. Typhoons and blizzards: 3 Rain and snow: 2 Drizzle: 1 All other weather: 0 Watering with your watering can adds 1 water. You can water as many times as you want in one day and it will increase the water level by 1 each time you do it. Highest Quality Crops You want to aim for the minimum amount of water and sunlight for the crop to get the highest quality. Each type of crop has different requirements. If you exceed the maximum, the crops will wilt and die. Don’t Water if you Don’t Need To If you reached the minimum water amount in the growth stage, stop watering! Also, take into account next day’s weather before you water your crops, because depending on what the weather is the next day, when your growth stage ends, and your water levels, you may not even need to water that day. Looks like you're done posting, requested a sticky.
does this mean i can water a plant the number of times it needs all in one day, reset when it rains so there's always sun, and not have to water it any other day?

Also, if I water my TURNIPs for more than10 days, they will die?!? --- NFS Pro Street FC: 390958 326565 Pokemon Pearl FC: 4811 3434 5570
if you water you turnips more than 10 times, then yes...they will die by just dessapearing all of a sudden. because the water requirement is between 2-10 times watering. the least amount the better.

The weather is incredibly hard to manipulate in this game. I think it is predetermined 5 days in advance. So if you do go to the trouble of figuring out a good way to manipulate the weather, you could water your plants all the water it needs in one day and just let the sun take care of the rest. I like to just go to bed over and over to see what the weather is like for the next few days to help my determine if and how much I should water my existing crops. --- 360: PhoenixForce20 PS3: PhoenixForce
And yes, exceeding the maximum amount of water and sunlight in any stage will cause the plant to die. Also, if you were only getting rain and no sunlight, eventually the water will exceed the maximum allowable water level and the crops will die. --- 360: PhoenixForce20 PS3: PhoenixForce |
