It happened to my cousin twice, losing his game both times, and now it happened to me. I've heard about these crashes affecting a lot of people, do you guys think they'll patch it?

They friggin better...

I lost 14hrs of straight play upgrading and perfecting. I'm amazed I played that long to begin with. But seriously, the last thing I want to do is go through all the hassle again. Waste of time.

And yes its a retail copy.

Ok, great. Know we all know what the errors are. Superb. Too bad that doesn't help. At all.

I found a way to recover lost saves.

Go to: My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves

find the name of the neighborhood that you created and lost.

rename or remove the ".sims3" file

copy and rename the ".sims3.backup" file to ".sims3" (so that you have both a ".sims3" and ".sims3.backup" file)

Start up the game and your work should still be there. (just a few saves behind)

It's almost like Maxis/EA knew this would be a problem...

Well, happy simming!

oh my lord, this just happened to me!!!

i've tried the above suggestion, but it didnt work,im gonna try again now, after removing the ".sims3" file (ie,not the backup)

ANNOYING

It's happened to me over a dozen times already, in fact, it just crashed on save just then, hence me loitering in forum 'til I can be bothered restarting the game. However I save every 5-10 minutes. PITA, but at least it prevents major rage. Y'all should maintain 2 saves, I personally have a save file, and another file with an ! at the end, and save alternately. Max loss of time 20 mins.
