interesting information about beds and the well rested moodlet

after some really boring scientific studies in a controled environment, i've come to some startling and valuable understandings about the well rested moodlet i think the people need to know, as i've not seen information like this anywhere else (and boy would that have made my life easier...) the well rested moodlet is broken. if it says +10, then it DECREASES your mood by 10 when it pops up, and decreases it by 10 AGAIN when it runs out. netting a -20 on your base mood every time you sleep. if it says +15, then it increases it by only 5, then decreases it by 15 when it runs out. netting you a -10 on your base mood when it runs out. if it says +20, then it increases it by 20, then decreases it by 25! (wtf..) when it runs out. netting you a -5 on your base mood. if it says +25, then it increases it by 25, then decreases it by 25 when it runs out, being the only unbroken number. if it says +30, then it increases it by 30, then decreases it by 25 when it runs out, netting you a +5 to your base mood. the numbers are based on physical observation and are approximate values, as i am a novice modder and can't locate where exactly in the code these things are calculated, but the fact of the matter is, these numbers will result in an approximate base mood gain or decline as indicated. on a further note, fortunately the base mood adjustment is only temporary, and if you restart your game, your mood will visably normalize upon loading. so you can't ruin your characters like this, but sleeping on cheap beds all the time will make your real life miserable as you'll have to restart more frequently. (i hope this information was relevant the general public and not just a fluke glitch in my own personal copy of the game o.o;; that'd be embarassing.. though i've read a few others posts about people experiencing mysterious drops in thier sims moods as well that couldn't find any help on the subject, so i know it's not just me) --- "I'm fine." - Yuki, TMoHS
Ah, so that's what it was. I was wondering why that happened. Hopefully, someone comes out with a fix soon. It's annoying having to restart your game every few nights. Nice job on figuring it out. =D
I'd make a mod for it myself, but i'm really new to modding, and i only know how to look into the gameplaydata.package. i've looked at the buff code, sleep code, and each bed code, and my untrained eye really doesn't see anything wrong with them. they do however all seem to refer to a seperate sleep/well rested script in another location though. i'm guessing the problem is in that one somewhere probably. i also hope some better modder sees this, looks into it, and makes a proper fix for it. --- "I'm fine." - Yuki, TMoHS
I'll see if I can spread the word on some other forums then.
From: Akytalusia | #001 I believe this is what's happening. There are many many users describing problems with their Sims mood after installing the 1.18/etc patch. They have noticed the game incorrectly reports their moods in the red even if they have positive moodlets and their needs are adequate or even green. We'd like to know which cheap beds were you using, or did you test it with all cheap beds? I and several others have been using the B.R.A.S.S bed but noticed the problem arose regardless of which bed we used. Since this bug was so detrimental I reinstalled the game without applying the 1.18/etc patch. This caused the mood bug to go away but I noticed my SIM was overly happy and negative moodlets rarely dropped it below the top level. The problem goes away temporarily when I load the save file again. --- Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity Blog http://bumped.org/psublog
from what i remember, the beds i used to get all the moodlet ranges tested were the sign-of-springs, Mckraken, B.R.A.S.S., bedtastic, lulliby, sleep loud, regal, great wall and bungalo. more or less. though i'm sure the problem is connected to the moodlet and not each individual bed, so each bed that produces a +XX will suffer the same problem. --- "I'm fine." - Yuki, TMoHS
The only moodlet problem I had was excitable didnt wear off...ever i dont know what your talking about...in fact i tested it an i can tell your way off. --- kaisa: if you care about something protect it....even if u have to put ur life on the line protect it.........with both arms
Then you need to check out this thread because all the people in it are describing the same problem. http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/305869.page But at least now we have something to narrow it down with. I notice if I don't use any beds at all and manually restore energy, the bug doesn't crop up again. --- Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity Blog http://bumped.org/psublog
bump.. more people coming with the same issues. surprised twallan hasn't fixed this yet. i didn't update my game, and i'm glad i didn't.. and i won't until someone fixes this issue. --- i tried being serious once, in 1989.. didn't particularly care for it.. so don't expect it to happen again.
> i didn't update my game, and i'm glad i didn't.. and i won't until someone fixes this issue. I'm pretty sure i noticed this before the latest patch. Maybe not in vanilla but it's not ONLY in the most recent patch. |
