This is web head reporting that the 3 point counter NOOB system has been changed to DOA4's 4 point system, this is great news, that was my only complaint with DOA5, looks like team ninja actually listens to its fans.

Awesome. That was one of my main gripes as well.

That sucks big time, I much rather the 3 points. I find counters to be nerfed enough as it is.

Hmm, that's the thing I disliked the most about DoA4. It added some frustration that didn't feel like a deep fighting mechanic.

I like 4 point better than 3 point. 3 point is just too easy. 4 is the right number. If they make it 6 points, that is frustrating.

Do you have proof? I find this incredibly hard to believe, though I'd love it if it happened.

Here's the first in a series of tweets regarding the counter system: http://twitter.com/TeamNINJAStudio/status/207473715812904961

"One of the changes I mentioned the other day is regarding holds. We got a lot of feedback on holds from around the world. The Alpha Demo used 3-point holds: high, mid, low. But the version this time uses 4-point holds: high, mid P, mid K, low. 4-point holds work really well for game balance, but I was worried that beginners couldn't pull off mid kick holds. But all of the feedback we got from players with the Alpha Demo gave me the final nudge to go with 4-point."

And no throw breaks LOL! I can tell this will become the main issue after counters are reduced to Pandora status.

I posted this on the PS3 board but I though I would post it here too.

I can understand the logic behind it as it will minimise the spamming of holds to an extent, but I myself am not so keen on the 4-point system.

To me it does not make much sense. Why have every attack countered by pressing a variation of back and H except for the middle kick? I would rather see Team Ninja either go for the 3-Point system but make it so that while the first attempt uses a low frame count as in previous games, spamming of the holds takes more frames and leaves you open to attack.

Or, if they were adamant about not using the 3-Point system then why not make it a 6-Point system. Back and H variations for punches and forward and H variations for kicks. This would make learning characters a bit more necessary. Or in a perfect world have the option to change the system of holding in the options menu with separate playlists to cater for said choice. Max Payne 3 has different playlists based on the type of aiming (free aim or soft lock). Think of it like hardcore mode for the players who have a bit more time to practice and learn each character.

One more thing, why not just drastically reduce the power of the holds? Make them 3-Point but only have them take a small percentage of the health bar. As long as they are not like DOA2 then I think we will all be okay.
