What are they and what do they determine?

Brave

This number is used in various damage formulas, usually physical related damage. Aside from that, it also determines how likely it is for your reaction abilities to activate. 90 Brave = 90% chance. 50 Brave = 50% chance. Another function, it helps determine the quality of the items found with the Treasure Hunt ability. Lower Brave will get you better items in most cases. With Treasure Hunt, it works opposite of the way it does with Reaction abilities. At 90 Brave, you have a 10% chance of finding the good item. At 50 Brave, you have a 50% chance of finding the good item.

At lower Brave levels, your party members will threaten to desert. If you get their permanent Brave to 6, they will leave your party for good. To raise or lower a party member's Brave Points, abilities that raise/lower brave can permanently increase/decrease this stat by one point for every 4 points increased or decreased during a battle.

Faith

Like Bravery, this number is used in various damage formulas. In the case of faith, it's usually related to magical-related damage. With high faith, you can do more damage/healing with magic. Likewise, you can also take more damage/healing from spells directed at the high-faith character. At low faith, you may not do as much damage/healing to other characters, but you'll also take less damage/healing from spells directed at you.

At higher Faith levels, your party members will threaten to desert. If you get their permanent Faith to 95, they will leave your party for good. To raise or lower a party member's Faith Points, abilities that raise/lower faith can permanently increase/decrease this stat by one point for every 4 points increased or decreased during a battle.

dude, why dont you look at a guide? or better yet, open the booklet that comes with the game. or, look at the in game tutorial. but, just so your topic isnt a complete waste of space, i will answer you.

bravery's main function determines how often reation abilities are activated. it also slightly determines how much damage you do. however, bravery (like faith) has MANY other funtions. you need to look at a Battle Mechanics guide (you can use the ones from the original FFT, almost all of them are the game, with only the Dark Knight, Onion Knight, and Fell Swords being new i think). lower bravery increases the chances of getting a rare item with the treasure hunter movement skill on. higher bravery increases your blocking percentage with the samurai's Shiriodji (or whatever its called, i call it Blade Grasp like the original FFT did). it effects some skills success rates. it effects some weapons damage capabilities. it does too much to be listed here. look at a guide.

faith's main function determines how much damage you deal and recieve from magic. the higher the faith, the higher the game dealt and recieved. the lower the faith, the lower the damage dealt and recieved. it also increases the chance of a harmful or helpful status effect taking effect. if a persons faith is 0, then no spell will cause any damage and no status effect will take effect on that character. this is 2 sided though, since healing spells and helpful effects also wont take hold. faith (like bravery) also has MANY other functions. it effects some weapons damage. it effects how well some skills work.

now, if you really want to know what these two stats do, use a guide. because everything in this game is calculated through the use of multiple stats, with long equations. you will HAVE to use a guide to figure out what effects what.
