PSN Download: Is There Still Slowdown?

#1roninmediaPosted 11/18/2012 7:04:06 AM
I'm finally getting a console for the first time since the original Playstation and just wondering if there is still a slowdown? (I logged hundreds of hours in the original Final Fantasy Tactics)

I know for PSOne games that suffered loading time issues on the original platform, they still suffer them on being played on the PS3.

Loading times? Not sure, can't really compare since I don't get PS1 games I already have.

Slowdown as in animations? Definitely not, the original Tactics never had that problem. It's the PSP version only that had the anything-that-isn't-Attack slowdowns. It's pretty sad to consider even the IPHONE re-release of the PSP version got rid of the only problem it had.

The War of the Lions has been criticized for slowdowns during battles and decreased audio quality, most notably casting spells or using special abilities that require different lighting effects. Despite the move from disc-only to the option of playing via PlayStation Network download, the slowdown remains, as confirmed by PlayStation LifeStyle's review.

From wikipedia.

There's a fix for the slowdown that requires firmware.

Yea but when they built dinosaurs they didn't use clouds.

Hehe.... FFT PSP cure for Slowdown is actually more work then just using CFW ...

Need to download latest patch file (many revisions) + plugin to use such a patch and ofcourse the need of CFW !!

Enjoy, fast gameplay ..

Why don't they release an update? Isn't that possible, considering it's a downloadable title?

There would be little incentive for SE. Effort = money, and I figure SE doesn't thinks fixing this issue via path would improve sells significantly to justify work done to a game that was finished in 2007.

Or.. Just get the iOS version. I see minimal slowdown in that one. Also sound effects sound great, not sure about that reduced sound quality.

I don't know, I heard bad things about iOS version outside of lack of PSP multiplayer and no physical buttons. Though I think they reworked a easier method of getting the new equipment.
