Stuff I'll need for my guide

#1LancetJadesPosted 1/17/2010 3:23:11 PM
First of all, like I stated in my other topic, I need the skill gains for Lv1-15 for all five units if possible. The only way to get this info myself would be to replay it till I reach that level, which I REALLY don't want to do.

Other things are as follows:
-Exactly how a zoid's Offense and Accuracy are used. The stats on the zoid itself, not its weapon.

-What does Mobility do, exactly? Evasion? Get turns faster?

-Do zoids have innate Impact/Shock Resistance and Scan Resistance, or are these only provided via skills and equipment?

-Do Steal and Rare Steal, and Safety Mode and Safety Mode+ stack with each other? Or is only the strongest used?

-Does Safety Mode(+) increase post-mission EXP too, or just EXP from encounters?

-At what level do your zoids stop learning skills?

-Can enemies drop any datadisc of the same type as their equipped weapon and armor?

-Does each mission have a set list of container item drops?

I'll post more as I think of them. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The number of squares a unit can move per turn, IIRC. Light Armor grants additional mobility, Heavy Armor subtracts it. There's no obvious downside to using Light Armor -- or obvious benefit to using Heavy Armor -- unless the enemy is using something capable of breaking armor, in which case Light Armor breaks more easily and makes it easier for enemies to damage you.

-At what level do your zoids stop learning skills?
My units reached level 26 at the end of my second playthrough, and most learned skills. Mace-1 got Protect, Mace-3 got High Power and Mace-4 got Sensor. The last ability I got for Mace-2 was Dash at level 24, and the last ability I got for Mace-5 was Repair Arm at level 25.

-Can enemies drop any datadisc of the same type as their equipped weapon and armor?
Probably. I've obtained a CA-DATADISC A on Mission 1 before, although that was during the second playthrough which may have affected that. Still, the level of the Zoid hadn't been altered and so one would assume it's possible -- if only through high-level skills like Rare Steal.

That's about all I can answer. I considered writing a guide back in April, but gave up on it fairly quickly. I doubt it'll be of much help, but I'll post the information I gathered while playing:

MACE-1
LEVEL 22: HIGH POWER/PROTECT (?)
LEVEL 23: SHOCK ABSORB
LEVEL 25: HIGH PROCESSING
LEVEL 26: PROTECT

MACE-2
LEVEL 21: DODGE++
LEVEL 23: HIGH MOBILITY
LEVEL 24: DASH

MACE-3
LEVEL 21: SNIPE++
LEVEL 23: SENSOR
LEVEL 26: HIGH POWER

MACE-4
LEVEL 21: BALANCER++
LEVEL 23: SHOCK ABSORB
LEVEL 24: HIGH MOBILITY
LEVEL 26: SENSOR

MACE-5
LEVEL 20: GUARD++
LEVEL 22: MAINTENANCE
LEVEL 23: REPAIR++
LEVEL 24: JAM++
LEVEL 25: REPAIR ARM

I'm pretty sure Mobility isn't how far you can move. That's Movement, a different stat with its own presence on weapons, armor, and skills (High Mobility vs. Dash, Light Armor gives +1 movement and the mobility bonus, etc).

You're left with trial and error then, I guess. Unless people lurk this place and never post, there isn't anyone here and I haven't put the game into the console in nearly a year.

I vaguely recall someone creating a guide and submitting it towards the end of '08 or the start of '09, only to have it rejected, but I've no idea if that information was posted nor if it's still stored in the thread archive or not if it was. As good a place as any to start unless you just dive into the game.

Btw, thanks for those item lists! The spoils more than the rewards. Between that and some japanese wiki I found, I have definite locations for every single weapon and data disc, along with skills for all levels except 10-14.

Well, the guide is posted, as is probably obvious. Enjoy!

Well, except for additional mission strategies provided by others sometime in the future (if someone emails me a good one), the guide is essentially complete now. Similarly, I've now played the game to death, so I guess I'll probably take my leave of this board too.
