ERLiNoPosted 2/13/2010 1:55:27 PM | I haven't read many things but will this game work like an expansion and will my old characters still work, I read somewhere this game will be like 200 years after the first one, so it wouldn't be logical, sorry if this is a really stupid question. I hope somebody can answer my question :) Thx in advance. |

darksoulpriestPosted 2/13/2010 7:50:36 PM | Nothing's in stone yet, but promised was that there would be some reward for people who worked on their Hall of Monuments (EotN expansion).
Names were promised as well to buyers of the expansion, if I recall correctly. Possibly all in-game people. The trouble is how ANet will differentiate between players who had GW and bought GW2 and want to keep their names, from the people who bought GW but will not get GW2 ever or have gotten it and don't want to keep their names.

I'd think the easiest thing to do would give people one year to use their old character names before they become available to anyone. --- PSN: Phazor58 (Put gamefaqs/gamespot in the message or I will not add you) Steam: [YEAH]Phazor (Julius Caesar avatar) |
darksoulpriestPosted 2/14/2010 8:09:45 PM | Yeah, that's what some people were suggesting on gw2guru. problem is, how about people who buy one of the games like a few days before gw2 is released. there should be some threshold on which players can save their names.
but do you recall if the name-saving thing was only for eotn buyers or for all guild wars players?
and another problem is consolidation. i hope all they require for you to transfer your names over is to put in your gw email and password, rather than having to download the entire game and go with each character to some npc in balthazars temple or whatever it was called.

Glitch_The3rdPosted 2/14/2010 8:59:58 PM | I believe they said they wanted to do something where one could just put in their GW1 info, and it'd come up with the relevant names and monuments. --- PSN ID: BinfordDude Now Playing: Wipeout HD Fury (rank 28), COD Modern Warfare 2 online, Trine |
Phazor58Posted 2/15/2010 2:50:17 AM | You would hope they would have some sort of merger between your GW1 and GW2 accounts (like an Anet account).
And I believe they said names would be reserved through the HoM, though of course they could change their mind between when they made that statement and when the game is released. --- PSN: Phazor58 (Put gamefaqs/gamespot in the message or I will not add you) Steam: [YEAH]Phazor (Julius Caesar avatar) |
