Sorry to ask but I am to lazy and busy to look it up myself. But what are the normal requirements for closed beta and things like this. I would love to sign up for one and be selected to play Guild Wars 2 before everyone else and help find bugs and anything that would mess up the game. But then with open-beta does this mean everyone can play? Or just a select group of people for open beta.
Closed beta = Selected players are the only ones allowed to play
Open beta = Anyone can play as long as they sign up for it
As for a GW2 beta, we haven't heard anything about the requirements for it, nor have we heard if it will be open or closed.

1) The closed beta has not been announced
2) The closed beta will probably not be until late 2010 or 2011
3) Nobody knows the selection criteria for the closed beta
If it's anything like GW1, then closed beta will be invite only, and the open beta will be for people who preorder only.
We don't know yet but I'm hoping that open beta will be for anyone with a GW1 account that signs up for it.
Irony is Law.
I was actually thinking that you could submit emails for closed beta and waves of requests will go out periodicly, anyone signed up for the newsletter would be automatically entered.
Emails connected to GW1 log-ins get priority, and accounts that have been activated for longer get even higher priority.
So someone that's been playing for 5 years, and gets the newsletter or signed up for beta would get top priority.
people who have been playing for 4 w/ sign up next, then 3 years, then 2, 1, then finally the random peeps.
Please excuse my English as I am an American on the internet.
"and the open beta will be for people who preorder only."
This is highly unlikely. As Phazor mentioned above, open beta is for everyone. You sign up, download the game and play.
Preordering is usually used for CLOSED beta, where it's not so easy to get in.
To be honest, I think beta isn't all that useful in its current state. Most of the people playing beta are only doing it to play the game early for fun, and never report anything. I think if you go a week without successfully reporting a valid bug, your account should be closed and a beta invite should be sent to someone else. That way only the useful people stick around.
You're not supposed to play the game like normal, you're supposed to go off-road and find bugs. Check for walls you can pass through, floors you fall through, glitch out NPCs, exploit dupes and whatnot.
I remember reporting a bug in LOTRO in closed beta where a few of the trees were all messed up. The bark on the tree was flowing like water, it was messed up lol.

Ahhh thanks guys. I have had my GW account for around 4 and a half years so I guess if it does go by time having account then I should be towards the top of the list and yeah I would try to be useful and find glitches if I did it but really... who wouldn't want to just play through the game anyway. Although along the main paths and storyline there shouldn't be any glitches anyway since the devs would more likely run through that area and spot the problem. Here's to hopefully getting an invite to play closed beta. Well when it is announced...
