Comparing one game which they've been playing for years to another which they just picked up during beta is definitely a smart thing to do.

At least it gives Crux and Xeeh arguments such as "the pros agree with me" to keep things entertaining around here.

In GW1...

I see a warrior near my team mate...i guardian them. All kinds of interesting conditional skills not found in GW2. (Reversal Of Fortune, Life Sheath, Weapon of Warding)

I see frenzy popped...i call spike on vent.

I see diversion being cast...i interrupt with distracting shot for cool down. (No risk effects for the foe getting interrupted in GW2 beyond the interruption. Mesmer in GW2 had to learn to cancel cast to fake out the ranger while playing with 40/40 set swaps. None of that in GW2)

I build adrenaline to chain and setup spikes on a target.

In GW2...

I see warrior near team mate, i spam auto attack or snare.

I see frenzy popped, i dodge because of in bound spike. No condition or risk to the warrior except ridiculous cool down.

I build adrenaline to 1 crit K.O people.

Just a few of innumerable examples as to why the combat is dumbed down. It's not even the principle of comparing to GW1, it's about the obvious lack of forethought for choice and synergy. There's no teamwork reliance, it's too individual damage focused. Dodge, Snare, Damage, Block..that's all there is. Buffs are homogeneous..Protection, regeneration, Vigor, etc.. Enchantments went from synergizing patient spirit to a boon removal for quick heal, hexing players to limit what they could do without risk, etc. In GW2, it's all blanket, general buff/debuff. There's no choice, no variety, and no depth.

all you did was write a bunch of GW lingo that people can easily research and figure out, atleast in GW2 you can easily understand what things do and react to it without reading up on a guide. Also there is conditional risks especially when building a character, making a 1 shot power/precision warrior is going to make you pretty squishy so you have to find a way to close the gap.

you are not looking at where the depth is, the developers have focused the depth to positioning and avoidance rather then general knowledge of a huge list of skills you need to memorize. Its more twitch reflex + strategy now then pure strategy based off buildwars.

I Dont AOE in conquest mode because its PRO not to use useful skills i only spam 1 button and think i am good. I have a hard time reading cause my mom sometimes gets distracted when she spells the words out for me. Anyways im going to troll another board! GOD DAY TO YOU ALL GAMEFAQERS
