thanks guys some great feedback on this board for a change...refreshing.

Yes I do have shadowstep specced already i think its a must-have for thieves. Im also using the trait that regenerates endurance for some extra dodging as well. Im torn between the stealth heal or the passive/damage heal (forgot the names). both are good but i think since im going Sword/Pistol and pistol/pistol im gonna go with the passive/damage heal.

There are infinite specs/traits/possibilities and im loving the build calculator cant wait for BWE3!! Thieves might not be OP or totally gimp, think they are in the middle overall but it is the class i have enjoyed the most thus far and thats what its all about.

Monsters tend to pick whoever is closest, but they all have customized AI, so it's not as predictable as in WoW.

The idea is that instead of getting hit and healing the damage, you don't want to get hit at all, and you don't want to waste time healing yourself when you could be doing damage or buffing others. Nobody can really stand idle in front of a boss and trade blows.

Of course that's where dodge roll comes it, but on top of that, most classes have mechanics to help you avoid being hit on their melee weapons. Warriors for example have lots and lots of ways to block stuff. If they have a shield they have 3 seconds of invincibility every 25 seconds.

Instead of blocks, thieves tend to rely more on stealth and shadowsteps in and out to avoid hits. They have a really fun move (I believe it's on the dagger) that you hit to shadowstep in and that shadowsteps you back when you hit it again. So you go in, stun stab stab stab then shadowstep out when the mob starts attacking you.

yeah i know i heard they were working on the 'telegraphing' or whatever its called so that you can potentially sense or see visuals for incoming attacks and such. Not sure if i read that right but that would be great as long as it does not make the game much less challenging..i actually enjoy wiping and trying again lol. Youre talking to someone who played vanilla wow, got to rank 14 pvp before they implemented the new pvp and cross realm and ran 40 man mc, bwl and onyxia raids 3-5x a week lol so im a glutton for punishment :)

I remember seeing a gaming press demo in which circles appeared on the ground to warn about incoming attacks and such too.

That's an indicator that certain AOE skills are being used, not something to do with monster aggro. It happens in pvp too with skills used by opponents.

That's what I meant by "incoming attacks." I should have made it clear I was talking about the emphasis on avoiding damage rather than aggro in particular.

I can see that opinion, in reference to the previous post, but I think there are more than enough twitch games out there already. Even if it's action oriented I never got the impression they intend this to be a twitch reaction or lose type of game, hence the desire to give reasonable warning.
