LINKING GUILD WARS ACCOUNTS:

- If you’d like to link an original Guild Wars account to a Guild Wars 2 account, this feature is now available! Please visit the following Knowledge Base article which will describe and cover all the steps needed to complete this:

- Please note: Once you link a Guild Wars account to Guild Wars 2, you cannot unlink them. Choose wisely and type carefully!

- If you are wondering if your Guild Wars 2 account is linked to a Guild Wars account, this can be verified by logging in with your Guild Wars 2 account at https://account.guildwars2.com and clicking Link Accounts on the left-hand side of the page. If the account is already linked, you will see the message "Your Guild Wars accounts are linked"

CHANGING AN ACCOUNT NAME:

- You do have the ability to change the Guild Wars 2 account name at this time. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Login using your Guild Wars 2 account information here: https://account.guildwars2.com/login
2. Click the Edit Profile link
3. Enter your new account name and login password and select Save Changes. You will then be able to log into Guild Wars with the new account name. Keep in mind, if you have linked Guild Wars 2 to an original Guild Wars account, you will also use this new account name to access both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.

DISPLAY NAME ISSUES:

- We may allow players to change their own Display Names in the future, but it's not possible right now. We don't have an ETA for this just yet, but we are working getting it working as soon as possible

- If your display name is showing up as long string of numbers and letters on your account management page, there is a good chance you logged into account management using an account that only has a Guild Wars 1 account on it. This will show your display name as numbers as the display name is meant to be used with a Guild Wars 2 account. Since you haven't set up a GW2 account and linked your GW1 account to it yet, you don't actually have a GW2 display name set. Luckily this is really easy to resolve. Once you purchase Guild Wars 2 just follow the directions at http://support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8982 to register and link your GW1 account with a GW2 code. When you do that you will be given the chance to select a display name. After you complete the registration process your display name will update from that number to the name you select.

ACCOUNT REGISTRATION:

- If you need assistance with creating/registering a Guild Wars 2 account, please review the following Knowledge Base article: Guild Wars 2 Registration
URL: http://support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8982

COLLECTOR EDITION/DELUXE DIGITAL EDITION IN GAME ITEMS:

- If you have inadvertently deleted any of your CE or DE items, or deleted a character holding those items, please reply again to this message with as much information as possible to where the items were and how you lost them. We are currently working on a solution to this matter, but there may be a wait to ensure we get this resolved in a satisfactory way.

HALL OF MONUMENTS:

- We have received a number of reports of various issues with HoM rewards which we are investigating. In the meantime please review this page: http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9029/kw/hall as many of your questions can be resolved there.

GUILDS:

- We are aware of an issue that is causing guilds to "disappear" from time to time. When this issue occurs, you are not able to see your guild. Your guildmates may or may not still see you as a member of it. Your guild is still there, and it will show up permanently once we've fixed this issue. You may also notice it come and go as you move to different parts of Tyria. We are working to get this issue resolved as soon as possible. In the meantime, you should be able to play normally aside from the invisible guild.

- There are some reports that Guild invites cannot be sent at this time. Additionally, some players who were in guilds have been kicked and cannot be re-invited. We're investigating.

- There are some reports of various players’ being unable to see influence being added properly to their Guild. We are currently investigating this issue however we do have reports that it may only be a display issue, and will resolve its self after a few hours.

- At this time it is currently not possible to change the name of a Guild once it has been created. If you would like another name you will need to create another guild.

TRADING POST/BLACK LION TRADING COMPANY:

- We are aware of the issues preventing access for the trading post. We are working on getting these issues resolved as soon as possible.

- We had some reports of players having difficulty buying Gems and items from the Black Lion Trading Post. This issue should now be resolved and transactions mailed to your character via in game mail. If you think you are still missing something though please inform us of what seems to be missing.

CHARACTER CREATION:

- Once a character is created we have no way to alter it. We may add this feature in the future but for now, you will need to create a new character if you wish to change some aspect of your character.

- Once you select your Homeworld all your characters will be created on that same server. In order to have characters on another Homeworld you must transfer to that world.

- When a character is deleted its name will be reserved for a limited time on the account it was deleted from. We are unable to get into specifics right now about how long the name is reserved. However please be aware there will be some delay in the naming become available for use.

- If you wish to review the naming policy for character creation you can do so at: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-naming-policy/.

- We had some reports of characters becoming stuck after creation or in the starting zone, this should now be resolved, but please let us know if you are still experiencing issues.

- There were some reports of characters become stuck after transfers, this should now be resolved, please try logging into these characters again.

Once again, if you have a specific issue which the above information does not address, please let us know by responding to this message. We apologize for the wait, but we will get to your ticket as soon as possible.

I would also like to add if you get a message about the client not able to connect to the server and you have played the game fine before, it is not your firewall, the server is down for service. They do not have a seperate web message for this yet.

Also beware that there is a large effort to hack accounts right now so be sure you make a long password with upper and lower case letters as well as numbers. There are phshing emails being sent as well. Some have gone to the extent of making new mail accounts dedicated to just GW2.

There will be email authentication soon as well soon as well.

Email was down to prevent exploits and should return soon.

There are 2 ways to register your real game serial. One by going to register.guildwars2.com and redoing it all with the new code (the 4 digit number after your name should switch to the one you used in head start). If you are new to game then you will use that way from scratch. The second way is in game through the Black Lion Trading Post. You go to the gem pafe where it asks for you to enter a code.. To verify you have registered properly, in game hit "Y" and if your screen name followed by the right 4 digit numbers is how you are identified, it worked.

MORE NUGGETS OF WISDOM

If you plan to join a guild, understand that the guild joins the account holder, not a character. So ALL characters will be in that guild.

If you go back to low level areas (e.g. to mine) your character attributes and hit points are reduced to cap for that area. You are still a bit stronger but you need to be careful especially around elites.

There is an intensive daily and monthly system that pays very well in items and exp/money.

Finding all locations of worth on a map grants good money, exp and a lot of items (well worth it).

There is extensive underwater combat and your character has a separate place for those items on the paperdoll. You get 2 slots for main land, 2 slots for secondary land, 1 slot for breathing device, 1 slot for underwater ranged and 1 slot for underwater melee. There are weapon skills and advances for underwater as well. You get a free breathing device so the need for air is moot.

When crafting, be sure to "discover" new items to craft as the craft skill advancement for them is significant.

Stopping to click on a downed npc or player grants exp and is a big part of the game so use it.

You can mine overflow areas then choose to join the real area to mine that area as well. Chests loot-able the same too. EVERYONE gets their taps on resource nodes so don't be shy, go get it. Everyone also gets to loot chests.

Get your free DW2 cap from Black Lion Trading Post while you can. they are about to be removed.

RED CIRCLES ON GROUND ARE BAD, get out asap.

Everyone on the server is a team in World vs. World, so do your best to help them!
There is no "Kill Stealing". Everyone can attack a mob and you will get a chance for a drop.

You can do random events as often as you like and get rewarded.

Be sure to go to your hero paperdoll "H" and click on the little eye dropper icon at the top. This is to dye your armor they colors you want. The cool thing is when you get new armor to put there, the client remembers it and adjusts the new item when equipped. New dyes are dropped as loot. There are rare ones too so be careful with them.

Armorcraft can make boxes so you don't have to go to a tailor/leather craft to get bag space. You can also make SAFE boxes that act as bags but what you have in there will never appear on NPC list of items to sell.

You have 5 jewelry slots and a cloak. 2 rings, 2 earrings, 1 amulet. Get them filled. ALSO gems are what you put in the upgrade slots on armor and weapons. You can get fancy stuff that goes there later. When you start out make use of the gems. Just hit "H" and double click on the gem and it will highlight the stuff you could upgrade. If you upgrade something that has an item in it already, it will replace it with the new one and destory the other.

MORE NUGGETS
You can teleport to any way point you have already visited by double clicking it on the map. It costs money to use so choose wisely.

There are may special locations that require a lot of finesse at jumping, so be prepared to do a lot of that if you want to get all the locations on a map.

To split a stack of items hold down alt while click-dragging an item to a new slot.
You can put 250 of each craft material in your collection stash at the bank or crafting station. Save on that bank space and use it.

Blue Gems (premium currency) CAN be purchased with gold or real money. Use these for all kinds of things. Very useful for more bank space of more inventory bag slots.

Be sure to read what each skill does and understand it. It is tempting to just spam them and at times it works. But you can vastly improve play by using them in a smart order.

Save up 10 silver by level 10 so you can buy the first training book from your class trainer. It unlocks TRAIT skills (very important).

Using way points to teleport from city zone to city zone is free.

There are some very tricky POI (Points Of Interest) on maps. For example, one requires finding a very tricky hard to spot underwater cave. Some may be on 1 of 3 levels on the same x,y spot or even in a dungeon. The short way is not always the way.

Resource nodes move around. You can keep them static by not leaving a map but the reset time is lengthy. There are also RICH nodes that give you 3.33 times the normal node.

Blue items are fairly common. It's the green items that seem to be better.

Read all the tasks you can do in an event. I see people often overlook the fastest ways to finish by just rushing off and attacking things.

When you leave an overflow zone to appear in the "real" zone, you will be put in the exact same spot so be careful if you just cleared a huge room with elites...

Underwater gear, skills and attention do matter. Don't forget to set your skill in slots 6-0 on the hot key bar.

For crafting, there are specific creatures that drop mainly on type of crafting base material. Learn them asap and farm.

You can use guild roster lists to quickly email stuff to people. Beats trying to type something in and avoids mail errors.

Since I don't want to start a new thread and it's to do with support I have a question.
Does anyone know how long it takes for support to respond?

Been waiting for 3 days now and still nothing...

Quick question, can we get in trouble for our account display name, the one with 4 numbers after it? I mean it's nothing offensive, but it's a historical "mainstream" name if you want to make that stretch.
