I started a thief today (my highest level is a 28 warrior) and so far my thief has pretty much just been playing my warrior in terms of play style, adding a stun and blind move. Are thieves higher DPS than warrior? (greatsword) I'm curious, because if they're weaker then I may as well just stick to warrior.

As far as PvE goes, I think a condition Thief build will out damage any Warrior build.
As far as regular damage builds I'd wager they are around the same.

A Thief used to its full potential should have higher DPS but it has a very high learning curve to maximize it. --- "It's a basic truth of the human condition that everybody lies. The only variable is about what." - Dr. House

Uhm, if you're talking about straight up boss dps, thief has by no means a learning curve outside of getting the right traits and spamming either heartseeker or death blossom.
Warrior DPS is most likely higher for now thanks to greatsword/HB.
