Xfire has 22,269,486 pc users, most of them have stopped playing Gw2 to play WoW instead. That's a lot of people bored of gw2 already.
2) World of Warcraft - 519,830
4) Guild Wars 2 - 282,299
Xfire literally says on the front page that gw2 is still doing better than wow* even though they just released panderia and GW2 is free-to-play which means that people don't feel compelled to put hours in, they only play it for fun like any other game.
Plus WoW has inflated numbers due to a launch period, just like gw2 did. If you want to fight fair, you should compare their launch periods. Hint: GW2's launch blows Panderia's out of the water.
Uh. When this exact same thing happened after the Diablo 3 release, Forbes interviewed the CEOs of Xfire and DFC Intelligence who said that, in an overwhelming majority of instances, this is what games do: there's a huge spike of activity immediately after release, then it drops as the impulse buyers and beat-it-once-and-quit players stop playing after they beat it once or get bored with the grind. This is not new. It happens with, IN THE XFIRE CEO'S OWN WORDS, a majority of new releases, ESPECIALLY highly-anticipated ones. So... try harder. Troll harder. Be a better person.
And seriously, I just looked at these Xfire charts for the first time and, wow, who cares? THEY HAVE 21 THOUSAND PEOPLE PLAYING WORLD OF WARCRAFT. So obviously the Xfire sample is hilariously un-representative of the playerbase of these games. Who even uses Xfire?
Let's use WoW as a sample, and say that 1/433 (21k out of, roughly, 9.1 million subscribers as of August) of the users are using Xfire. That comes out to just over 0.002 of the playerbase.
And if Xfire is to be believed, and GW has more than double the active players - 44,186 playing GW vs. 21,161 on WoW - THAT MUST MEAN THAT GUILD WARS 2 HAS OVER 18 MILLION PLAYERS. AND LEAGUE OF LEGENDS HAS MORE THAN 40 MILLION PLAYERS! THAT'S AS MUCH AS 40 DELAWARES!!!
Are you seeing how silly using Xfire stats to try to draw any realistic conclusions about anything is? Or did you just read this post, drool on yourself, and think "THAT GUY THINKS 40 MILLION PEOPLE PLAY LEAGUE OF LEGENDS EVERY DAY HURRRRR."
If that's the case, I'd say doubling WoW's playerbase is the pinnacle of success for an MMO, yes?
