Guardian: very high DPS (burning and GS), great support, good control (heavy armor) Warrior: high/very high DPS, decent support (shouts and flags), decent control (heavy armor) Thief: very high DPS, little support, decent control (leather armor) Elementalist: high DPS, good support, decent control (light armor) Ranger: mid/high DPS, decent support, decent control with pets (leather armor) Mesmer: low to very low DPS, good support, decent-ish control (light armor) Necro: decent DPS, low/decent support, decent control with pets (light armor) Engineer: very low DPS, fantastic support, good control (leather armor)
Did anyone find this predictable when hearing about the game? Because there is "no trinity" and everyone's DPS, it would make sense that heavy armor classes would be the most overpowered - because they deal comparable damage, but take less damage. But GW2 seems to have really dropped the ball: light armor classes deal much less damage and also take a lot more damage. They also have worse support and are much more difficult to play correctly.
Rank them yourself! Let's see if we're all on the same page.
I've seen GS mesmers absolutely wrecking face in pvp, 2v1 or 3v1 they can at least hang because so much clones/misdirection.
Necro pets are way weak but condition damage seems to be pretty good - they can dump 3 or 4 in aoes at a time, and their condition-eating is good for supporting allies too. So not necessarily UP, just requiring some finesse
I always say this in every topic like this that shows up:
Top: Mesmer Guardian Warrior
Not as top: Thief Ranger Engineer
Needs slight improvement: Elementalist
Needs to be fixed and more improvement: Necromancer
I say "not as top" because a good thief can still beat a good mesmer, a good ranger can beat a good guardian, a good engineer can beat a good warrior, so on and so fourth. You can't just pick the "OP class" and pwn everyone because player skill has such a huge impact on sPVP. You're never guaranteed a victory, even when a guardian is fighting a necromancer.
