Are there any populated areas?

Haven't played this game in several months now and I remember the starting areas were very populated. You would be running into other players all the time while doing events and heart quests. But I remember areas getting less and less populated as you got into the higher leveled areas and wandering around without seeing a player at all.

Is it still like that? Is there a certain area that is always more populated with higher leveled players? Are people just doing WvWvW stuff?

After the upcoming update it shouldn't be as much of a problem. The guild activities are supposed to take place all over the world.

What exactly is in the next update? Sorry I haven't been following the game at all. You mention guilds...do I have to be in one to take advantage of whatever the next update is?

Wayfarer's Foothills, I believe. Keep an eye on chat for The Frozen Maw. Plenty of other people there for that.

Can't blame them, either. It's one of my favorites.

Are you suggesting that moon should get off his ass and write some stories? He's like the Stephen King of gamefaqs. - Sorbz

The next update is feb 26th. Should be the next chapter of the Living Story campaign and also they are releasing guild features. You will also be able to customize what your dailies are. Hit the link on your gw2 launcher to read about it.

Queensdale = Shing Jea Monastery. Queensdale is where you go if you want your GW2 experience to be an avatar-based instant messenger (ABIM). ABIMs are stupid. I like human characters very much but I get out of Queensdale as quick as possible.

Oh, if you're new to GW Shing Jea Monastery was a starting area in GW1 where people went to chat all day. The degenerate kind of chat.

If you're 80 already, the high level zones are pretty populated. Orr zones and frostgorge sound. The temples in a cursed shore and events chains have a lot of people always doing them on my server.

I think a lot of people leveling alts are doing in it dungeons so the mid levels+ areas are pretty deserted. With a good group you'll level faster and the rewards are decent.

Pretty much if you are not in a 1-15 area, it is pretty deserted.

EXCEPTION 1: Dragon Events. From ~20 minutes before the event to ~10 minutes after the event, these areas are decently populated. After that, it is dead again.

EXCEPTION 2: Cursed Shore. Karma Train rolls through that area, do is usually has a decent population.

Most zones I play in have lots of people; some areas are a bit quieter, it depends on time of day, but Iíve never played in a zone that was entirely empty. And the low-level zones are still full.

I don't know about "lots of people"... Most non-starter, non-80 zones I have been to have 20 people MAX. And I am on a "Very High" pop server...
