Final Fantasy series timeline theory

#1ninjawiiPosted 4/11/2009 6:59:16 PM

I know most people believe the games are unrelated, but after playing most the games this year I think I came up with a solid timeline for the series. Please tell me if this makes sense.

Chaos defeated in past-3-1-2-4-5-9-6-10-7-8-12-13 (NOTE ! have not beat 5 or played 9 please help clear mistakes)

Note I'm being vague only mentioning key points.

3 young untrained warriors of light, who have not picked a specific job to stay with. Crystals all in tact, being drained from what I heard.

1 warriors of light trained adults, have 4 crystals/orbs drained of power. Corupt knight Garland makes a deal with the four fiends- time loop.

2-Richard Highwind (father), specific established charecters and setting.

4- Kain Highwind (son), 4 crystals of light and dark. Crystals protected in shrines by various nations, charecters unaware of true nature

Before 5- (not sure just started 5) some how the world is split relating to exdeath, fans please explain

5- wind crystal shatterd, Exdeath tries to destroy other crystals and is defeated.

9- world reunited, 1 big crystal. Garland is present. refrence to cloud and squall are likely to be just easter eggs

6- steam punk setting as world starts to modernize. Kefka steals the power of the triad and creates an apocalypse. Eidolons/ espers become magicite from Kefkas genocide. Magic temporarly fades after Kefkas defeat.

10-Machina wars most likely war of the magi and war with the empire in 6- Yevon most likely arose from fear after kefkas defeat. Sin brings the world to a tecnological slow for 1000 years. Destroyed crystals gather life force of dead espers and lost magic, and become gas like fayth (this is my speculation).

10-2 shinra refrences using fayth as a power source

7 crystals start to heal, seap back into planet as liquid life stream, tecnological revolution. Crystals start to grow back as huge materia.

8- similar world to 7. crystal life stream locks into planet and seaps as draw points. crystals presence unknown. monsters from the moon mirror 4, centra mirror 7.

12- future

13- crystals become one and are protected by versus protaginest.

Speculate on specific games for more info.

I believe that they are in a timeline, however, not in the same planet. That they're of the same universe is agiven fact. The After proved this. Moreover, TA has insinued that IV takes place after all of the Pre-VII FFs.

Of course, excepting the Ivalice Alliance. The rumors of the II-IV, III - VIII and VII-X are just rumors, that's all.

As dumb as it sounds, i thought the vii - x was official. =\

Nope, just rumors. Silly SE, adding in IVDS the Ricard-Kain relationship again...

Hell, they are even VIII - III rumors as silly as they can be.

Either way I thought IV the after or 6 had to be last destroying the crystals. All things considerd if the creator made multiple crystals on various planets, Then its safe to say 2 4 7 and 8 had to occur on the same planet. 2-4 ricard-kain, 4-8 monsters from the moon, 7-8 the centra. Also 1 3 5 and 9 have to be on the same planet because of the crystals purpose their, the cross refrencing, and the whole 5/9 split planet thing. Based in my ideas of the magi and machina war I'd like to place 6 and 10 together on the same planet. See their are two nitpicks I have that lead me to assume these are on one planet 4-9 Eidolons 7-10 Shinra power.

So 2-4-7-8 world has to be linked to 1-3-5-9, and 2-4-7-8 could just as easily link to 6-10.

If you say 4 is last in post VII it could be 3-1-5-9-6-10-2-4-7-8-12-13 But what bothers me about that is the technological zig-zag between futuristic and mideval.

So MooglePeru how do you view the series in a multiplanet view.

They have independent timelines. What they do share in common is that they all occupy some common interspace. The stuff that separates them is the Interdimesional Rift and the Void. This is why Gilgamesh visits so many of the FFs.

I don't think it makes sense to assume that the games are set on the same planet or couple of planets simply because they have some elements in common. The worlds of FF9, FF10, and FF12/Tactics are all given unique names, cultures, and histories. Even if you look past this, I still have a lot of trouble accepting your arguments.

Summoned monsters, for example, have gone by many different names in the Final Fantasy games; they were never referred to as Eidolons in FF4 and played a somewhat different role than they do in FF9. Furthermore, Shinra was never mentioned by name in FF10, and the information that is revealed about the Al Bhed, Zanarkand, and the origins of Sin throughout the course of the game does not lead me to believe that Spira and the world of FF7 are closely connected.

If you want to start discussing the dramatic differences between the world maps of each planet and the millions of years of continental drift, natural disasters, or magical cataclysms that would have to take place to completely reshape them, it becomes even less likely that any of the games take place on the same world. The same universe? Certainly. The same planet? Almost definitely not.
