OK after 6 attempts using different strategies, I still ailed to obtain the trophy in the mission Zero Hour where you have to destroy 4 hatcheries on HARD difficulty.

I try to defend myself with 2 bunkers at each bridge with 2 scv. by the time I have a sizable enough force thru 2-3 barracks and rescuing rebels (some guys keep dying while trying to rescue) its already around 10 minutes into the game.

By now, Roaches start to attack with the hydra/zergling mix, and apparently, the 2 bunkers/2 scv combo Does NOT stop them. Which again caused problems.

The best Ive done was to attack the base south-west of the map, taking out 3 hatcheries, but I end up with only 3 minutes left and 6 marines, 4 medics. and by then, the zerg miraculously spawn legions of zerglings and roaches from their spore drops. Spine crawlers also kille 2 or 3 marines each encounter which cause even more problems especially since marines do pathethic damage against them.

Any strategies or tips that could help woul be much appreciated.

I did both achievements on brutal, although one at a time. Its almost impossible to take out 4 hatchers + preventing a building from being destroyed. If you already have the latter achievement, just take your initial force of marine and fall back to higher ground which is a lot easier to defend.

At the beginning I had 1 SCV rush to build a refinery right away and queued more from the CC. I built 1 reactor on one barracks and 1 tech lab on the other (I lifted off both barracks to block the ramp entrance). As soon as the tech lab finished, I pumped out a medic asap, filled both higher ground bunkers with marines and scrapped the ones lying on the outside. I had a second medic pumped out by the time the 1st small wave of zerglings died. Sent a group of 8 marines and 2 medics out to grab the other 5 marines. By this point, you should have a good number of SCVs on your mineral fields. I stopped building SCVs when I had 21 total mining minerals (3 per patch). Build a 3rd barracks and keep building supply depots, dont get caught with a pop cap limit. Get a reactor on the 3rd barracks and start pumping out non stop marines and medics.

When you get the second "rescue" mission, send your force out to grab them (I had about 20 marines + 4 medics at this point). Once you get them, start going around the map wrecking hatcheries one by one while avoiding the ultralisk triggers and the zergs that spawn heading towards your base. Keep building your marines and medics and hotkey them as group 2, leave them for base defense. If your offensive force starts to dwindle, regroup back at base, dont try to rendezvous or you might lose chunks of marines getting caught in between zerg attacks.

I managed to do it with 5 minutes left. Its not too hard as long as you can get your productions up and running very quickly.

One of the bigger problems I faced was with spine crawlers and the random spawning of enemies from their drop spores.

Spine crawlers easily take out 2 maybe three at most marines and when invading main bases I have to deal wih maybe 2 or 3 at a time which cause BIG trouble especially with roach and hydralisk back up.

Also, sometimes after destroying 3 hatcheries, as i try to leave, the random spores drop huge amounts of zerg on me, sometimes accompanied by nydus worms, eliminating all i have left of my strike force T_T.

anyway, ill try the highground bottleneck tactic u sggested, indeed, having 1 entrance will be much easier to handle than have to defens those 2 horribly placed briges.

Note that you don't have to beat the mission to get that achievement, you get it as soon as you kill the four hatcheries

So you could just go all out offensive and not worry about defending your base any more than you have to to mass your attack force

yea, but damn the difficulty, my massed strike force of 6 (occasionally 8) and 28-30 marines accounting to around 32-36 men, tend to be slaughtered on the way to the bases. I usualluy end up with 26 men left in the base....6 of them being medics...

I was having a hard time with it until I did the following:

- Scrap the 2 lower bunkers.
- Build a 3rd bunker at the higher choke point and fill them all with marines.
- 2-3 SCV's per mineral field.
- 2-3 SCV's sitting next to the bunkers to repair
- 3 total barracks, 1 for medics, 2 for marines
- Hotkey the barracks so you can keep adding marines to the queue while you are on the offensive
- Focus on getting resource production, supply depots and upgrading your attack/defense first
- Rescue the marines as they come up.
- Should be able to get about 50 troops total by 10 minute mark, move out on the south western zerg base.
- When attacking a Zerg base pull the zergs back away from the spine crawlers, kill them, then go back and engage the spine crawlers. Move your marines close enough to the spine crawlers so half of them aren't spending half the time walking around finding a close enough spot to shoot, move in close then fire.
- Keep switching to your hotkeyed barracks and adding more marines/medics
- After you kill the southwest zerg base you should have a good amount of marine/medics built up at your base again. Meet outside the left bridge and move north to kill your final hatchery.

Notes: When moving out to rescue the ally marines, go after a wave of zergs hit your base, you are less likely to run into an attacking wave on the way and your defenses are better set to handle the attack waves. Also, I wouldn't worry about killing any buildings other than the spine crawlers and hatcheries. No point sitting around losing more troops for buildings that aren't important.
