No, baneling drops are a waste vs good blink stalker control.

How you use them depends on how many force fields they have though. I also believe that Roaches deal more damage if both are at base attack or plus one attack (which ever one you are building should at least be at plus one by this time).

How does this make sense? Are you talking about 0 upgrade shields (the norm)? Because otherwise, Roach damage actually scales with upgrades (+2), ling damage does not (+1) compared to enemy armor.

I was taking the DPS from each and comparing them vs. a zero armored target. The Roach starts with a DPS of 8 and climbs to 9 at plus one attack. A zergling starts with a DPS of 7.2 and climbs to 8.6 at plus one attack.

Once you hit the +1 armor of the Stalkers hull, the numbers will shift slightly. If we assume +1 attack for melee and range (Zerg), the Zergling drops back down to a DPS of 7.2. The Roach's DPS will drop to 8.5. So, either way the Roach still has a better DPS when attacking a Stalker when compared to a Zergling.

These are just numbers though, this doesn't take into account longevity or cost. You could argue that you get two Zerglings per larva and that the DPS should be doubled to account for this. You could argue that lings take more damage as they run up to the stalker, or that force fields can more easily zone them out completely.

Since you are the one that is looking for a specific answer, what you take into account is up to you. Personal style, preference, and ability play a part in the overall outcome as well.

Bane drops + Mass ling + Upgrades

works pretty well, get a surround with lings so when they blink backwards to avoid the banelings they blink into a ling ball

A good Protoss will just force field. I'm not saying a good Zerg cannot find a way to make it work, but I feel the pressure is on the Zerg to pull it off rather than the Protoss to defend it.

Yes, the burden is on you to win. Weird, right?
