TIPS TO WIN THE FORMULA GT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

This is an incredibly difficult championship to win. I've found that using the following set up will help making driving the very tempermental Formula GT car easier.

Requirements; Level 24, 6 million credits. 2.5 to 3 hours of continual game time. There are no saves in the championship!!

First off, to enter this race you need to be the Formula Gran Turismo race car. This car costs 4.9million credits. It can be found occasionally in the Used car dealership, or if you have installed Update version 1.05, in the online used dealership.

What you'll need to do once you've bought the Formula GT is to go to GT Auto - replace the oil. Then go across to the Engine Rebuild. This costs 500,000 credits. Do that. Then go across to the Chassis refresher. This costs 500,000 credits as well.

Now go to the Tuning Shop and buy racing soft tyres.

Now enter the championship and before you race, go into tuning, and maximise the downforce, increase the top speed by 20 KPH. This gives you a slight advantage on the straight at Fuji and helps avoid using lower gears in slower corners.

Then turn every single driving aid ON. ABS set to 5, Traction Control set to 7. Keep the Driving Line ON.

Now, first corners of each race, try & kamikazee into the lead. Just do a bit of smashing & bashing. Once your in the lead, try to hug the Driving Line as best as you can andblock any cars trying to go past. But be careful, if you focus too much on blocking, you'll slow down too much & get overtaken anyway

Good information above. I think TCS 7 would probably be sufficient, but I used 8 as depicted into this setup. Here is the setup I used to get through the Formula GT Championship. I didn't come up with this setup, so thanks to the original poster Sly Fox 2 over on the gamefaqs board. I couldn't even drive the car before I did this. Even with insane throttle control, I just couldn't get the power down.

"Tunings

(Everything is left to right the same way it is in the settings menu, this should make it simple)

Aerodynamics: 70, 90

Transmission: 242

LSD: 15, 40, 45

Suspension

Ride Height: -6, -4

Spring Rate: 17.6, 17.3

Dampers Ext: 8, 8

Dampers Comp: 6, 6

Anti-Roll Bar: 7, 7

Wheel Alignment

Camber Angle: 2.0, 1.0

Toe Angle: -0.30, -0.20

Brake Balance: 4, 1

Driving Assists *Note*These are more or less crucial to this tuning being worthwhile, although your preferences may be slightly different

Transmission: Auto - This lets you concentrate purely on your driving line and avoids red-lining due to human error

Tires: Racing Soft

Traction Control: 8 - Let's you hammer the gas hard at any time, but still accelerate fast enough

Skid Recovery Force: On - Helps keep skidding in check obviously

Active Steering: Mild - This is critical. Because the AI turns so sharply, I gave the car's tuning some adjustments towards oversteer. This does let you turn sharp enough to beat the AI, but you need Mild Active Steering to keep the car stable and easy to drive. I wouldn't go to the Strong setting, however, it'll more or less cause you to understeer and make the whole thing pointless.

ABS: 4 - Gives you a bit of oversteer when you smash the brakes, but not enough to actually spin you out.

Take advantage of the stability you'll have due to all the assists and you should be able to slam that thing around pretty fast once you get used to it. Also, figure out braking, because you can break shockingly late with this setup and have total control. I found that I could use the transmission setting of 242 to always catch up a bit in the straights, then brake late into the turns to pass.

Also, I found that the aforementioned oversteer caused by heaving braking can be used to your advantage. With that Mild Active Steering and ABS, you're so stable that you can basically skid into a corner and wind up facing exactly where you want to much easier than normal. This takes some getting used to though, so be warned.

HELP FOR THE NASCAR CHAMPIONSHIP

corigan posted...

Here is the Nascar setup I used on A-Spec for Daytona. Thanks to the original poster. I did use TCS at 7 and ABS at 4 on the road course unlike what is stated in this setup. I also changed the braking to around a 4 in front and 2 in the rear on the road course setup. Here is the Daytona setup:

"I'll give all you GTP-Memebers/Guests/Nascar-Fans my knowledge in Nascar car set up as i have been to the race tracks for 6 years and stepped inside these loud machines lots of times...(Note that Nascar is all about suspension set up since you can not modify the cars)

For GT5 automobile setup for Nascar @ Daytona:
-First off, if you drove your new car (NascarStockCar) before changing the oil first, you have screwed up already, because now, your car will always have 850HP instead of 891HP boost.
(Also note that all of the toyotas get more HP boost than chevys or fords)

-Raise the front end all the way up in height (To avoid losing speed from bottoming out) (Plus, in real life, front height rules of the official nascar rule book state that all cars have a front height limit due to everyone wanting to raise the front end because the splitter does not allow you lower the car without it bottoming out)
-Lower the rear end to -15 in height (To lose drag)
-Camber is unfortunatelly useless in GT5 Oval racing as you can not adjust each tire individually and so one side will not grip and will wear out very rapidly...the other bad thing to camber in one side acting negatively is that it destroys your car set up on ovals if set up higher than 3.9 degrees.
-Spring pressure to 18.5
-Dampers to 8-4F 8-4R
-Set your gear ratios to higher than 336mph if your planing to draft, or 224mph if your going by yourself (Ex. Qualifing).
-ABS set to off
-No traction control.
-Downforce of 35front and 55rear. (funny how in real life, Nascar does not allow any team to adjust the rear spoiler at daytona, but in GT5, you can)
-Set the brake bias to 2front 2rear as youll probably only need a tiny bit.
-And most importantly, Set the LSD Acceleration&InitialTorque to 60 if you dont want to spin out at high speeds on corner exits...Its better than traction control because you dont lose power, but you do lose acceleration on exits of roadcourses with tight turns.

If you have followed this car set up, winning at daytona should be easy because your car/driver can now run 217mph full throttle right next to the yellow line and get away from the pack for easy carrier/online wins. Oh, and dont forget smooth driving when you turn, it really matters."
