What purpose does this shield have... at all? --- RiOT!!!: People who hate my sig - 3 People who love my sig - axelblade

To be a cursed shield, what else? But seriously though, it does seem odd to have it in this game. At least in DQ 8 you could use it in Alchemy to make a much better shield with no curse on it. --- Look, I ain't some tasty-lookin' burrito sittin' on the side of the road, but you gotta take me with you! Drops your def to zero, raises your magics defences to the skies --- AC CF friend code: Josh, Hyrule 0688-8772-7419

Oh so it increases magic defense. Not very useful, unless you're fighting all magic users :\ Thanks for the answers. --- RiOT!!!: People who hate my sig - 3 People who love my sig - axelblade

It's actually useful for Metal killing when paired to Bladed Armor. If an enemy attacks them, 1/4 of the damage is reflected, and with 0 defense, it's usually enough for them to die in one hit --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice.

The older games usually didn't reveal that equipment was cursed until after you put it on. There may be some monsters unaffected by the curse, I'm remember someone saying that their slime knight wasn't affected by the double-edged sword's curse. --- Work is for losers. A winner says 'That's on my list' and never commits to a deadline.

Reflects damage, eh? Good to know. Mine was just a guess anyways XD --- AC CF friend code: Josh, Hyrule 0688-8772-7419

It's the Bladed Armor that reflects damage. The Ruined Shield drops your defense to 0 so you take more damage(in turn, doing more damage to the Metal monsters) --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice.

And it doesn't raise your magic defense. It actually makes attack spells do 20 extra damage to you.
If you want defense, it's completely useless. The one use is pretty much metal killing --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice.
