level grinding

How much level grinding have compared to other DQ games, especially the other DS ones?

Same as the other DS games. Exp needed to level has been reduced from the original NES/SNES games and many non-boss monsters have less HP.

No, Exp values are identical. It's just that some monsters spawn in larger groups and exp has been increased between 10 and 30% depending on the monster (most are in the 30% range). Some have no exp increase at all (like the metal enemies), but most do.

So what was once a 300 xp battle is now a 400-500xp battle.

However like part 7 higher exp levels = job levels don't count if you aren't in a area where jobs still count at level 99.

As in the lowest job exp cap should still be at level 36 hence being at level 36 once job class changes are first accessible is kind of pointless.

Level grinding? There is no such thing in DQ. Grinding means hours upon hours of work, it is called leveling in this game.

Evil isnít the real threat to the world. Stupid is just as destructive as Evil, maybe more so. What we really need is a crusade against Stupid.

You really shouldn't grind in this game until you get access to your 1st tier classes.

In fact I recommend staying relatively low level

does anyone know if Expel does it's standard thing in this game (defeating the enemy w/o granting XP)? If so, that'll help with early class leveling...

Yes, you also have two other skills like it that target single enemies. Same skills as in DQ7. I just can't find a name equivalent.

Jati, my FAQ does have spell/skill info, at least what I could come up with. Though a lot of skill names, beyond the obvious ones, are still open books given a few have different names between Joker, DQ8, DQ9, and DQ4 + 5. Hard to tell which will be named which. Though I haven't finished the actual class section and put the names to each respective class as of yet.

Grinding is pretty much \any time you have to go out of your way to level because the levels you get just from going throughj the dungeons or from town to town aren't enough to beat the boss. That's in pretty much every Dragon Quest I've played...

Using the word "lolicon" is A-OK. but if you go and use its less niche synonym, that's going too far. - Norse Mage121.

Well in my case its not level grinding that's a problem its buying all the best weapons/armors just for 1 party member once all equipment costs over 10,000 just to buy it.

As in Casino's are the best way to get money since monsters barely drop ANY good amount heck even in part 7 the best monsters for money are the gold colored golems which only drop like 600 and the gold slimes drop 3000 each.

But in part 7 even 3000 per gold slime isn't enough since the best equipment during that part in game would still cost like 300,000+ just to buy the best equips on 1 party member and at that point you still have 4 party members in the party.
