It's a setting that controls how much you have to move the control stick before it actually does anything
Not enough of a dead-zone and it may start "drifting" on its own. (Example: Borderlands had a very low dead-zone setting)
Too much of a dead-zone and it might be unresponsive.

Thanks. I turned it all the way up and the game feels so much better to me. I turned it all the way down just to see what it did and I started looking around the room only I wasn't even holding the controller lol.
