Farming Guide

I made a farming guide over at Gearbox Forums. I'd make a topic and post it here, but since it is so damn big, I'd need to reserve a crapton of posts.

Anyways, this guide is already pretty big, but none of the sections are complete yet. I was wondering if anyone had anything they might want to add, like a guide for farming other things like Vendors and Experience. (Meaning not just weapons)

So far, I have the main farming areas for Vanilla and DLC, barely anything for small loot farming, most of the boss drop guide complete, and I don't know about the General Farming guide (Experience Farming/Quest Item farming/etc.)

Great read, thanks for the hard work. I'm just getting into Borderlands now and there are less resources around than I would like. Stuff like this is what games need to stay alive.

Excellent guide. I've read this before. Did notice a couple things. You still have crawmerax at before pre-patch to where he can't spawn level 61 weapons. I guess for people without the patch it's true but maybe a side note he can't drop level 69 now.

As for the Armory section you may want to note that for people doing it on playthrough 2 that the level 48 chests won't scale until you complete PT2.

Just little things. Damn nice work. I've referenced this guide multiple times.

I'm voting sticky but I don't think links from other websites can be.

You should submit this as a guide to GameFaqs.

I noticed that you did not mention areas for weapon proficiency farming.

I think that it's a well known fact that killing the Rakk Hive with a weapon that one has a low proficiency with can boost the proficiency multiple levels per kill. And the Rakk Hive is so incredibly easy to get to and to kill that it can be farmed for weapon proficiencies with very minimal effort.

The basic strategy is to whittle it's HP down to next to nothing with whatever weapons one is proficient with and the switch to the weapon one wants to boost to make the kill. On PT 2.5 a Rakk Hive kill with a zero proficiency weapon will yield about 5-7 levels. After that the proficiencies will not come quite as fast but it is possible to boost a zero proficiency to around twenty in about 30 minutes.

So, is the Armory better the third time? I've been farming on the second.

I have never seen a difference in armory runs. Loot is loot, all random. Please try to sticky topic.

I was reconciling this from the guide, last paragraph, under Farmory:

"Note again: If doing the third armory mission for higher level loot..." It doesn't jive with the above post.

Great guide. Thanks.

Ah, yes thanks for pointing that out. I'll change that now...

Near the bottom, there's a section for Experience farming, which is basically proficiency farming. ;)

I do know that the first armory mission yields lower level loot than the third armory mission, but I'm unsure if it's different for the second one. IIRC it is best on the third, medium on the second, and worst on the first.

Thanks for the compliments. ;) I might try to get this as an FAQ/Guide here some time, but I'm pretty busy with a lot of other stuff now that I probably won't do that for a while.
