That tigrex can be killed with starter weapons.

I would agree with you in retrospect, after getting really good at playing this game. But when you are just starting out, you rely more on your weapons and armor than on your evading skills because you really haven't gotten used to the controls and you haven't learned Tigrex's attack and behavior patterns yet.

IIRC, I used a full set of Blango armor, for its Cold Elimination skill, and an iron gunlance to tank my way to killing that first Tigrex.

You're not going to get far doing that, not even in low rank. Unless obvious cheats.

From what I can tell you're a horrible player and I hope I don't see you online.

I played Monster Hunter for the PS2, so MHFU is deja vu for me, but with easier controls IMHO. The only Elder quest that I can't complete solo is the 6-star "The Final Invitation." I solo completed up to, and including, Nehokt's 8-star quests; and up to - including - the 7-star quests in the Guild Hall, so I'm stuck at Hunter Rank 5 without cheats. I've logged in over 800 hours and collected every weapon and armor (because I like to) that I could get at point in the game. I'm one of those guys plays it once in a while because I don't think that I could ever get good at it and finish the game.

I still have this game save on my hard drive, but I was anxious to see the big pay off. "Is all the effort to get really good at this game worth it?" is what I was thinking.

The answer is yes. G Weapons and upgrading low-level armor pieces to 100+ defense is a great reward.

After seeing how much better other people play MHFU solo on YouTube, I don't even dare.

I can't be the only mediocre player who is a fan of the Monster Hunter series and has a desire to play better but feels like "It's just a video game to relax and have fun."

Simply because there are no flowers on a field means the field is dead.
No, not at all.
"omg somebody said x sucks at something!!11! waht a meanie!11!"

I'm willing to try and re-word my last post for you so it seems less offending though. I see you're having trouble reading anything which isn't sugarcoated.

Having played the section again, I can confirm now there were definitely plenty of sparks, very little to no blood... does that mean the Tigrex was resistant to my attacks?

In any case, I've moved on to the next quests; Tigrex killed me pretty quickly the second time as well. I was doing well at first, but once he got me, it was pretty much over as killed me before I could get away far enough to use some herbs and I was getting quite frustrated at how much health he was taking off with just one attack.

Thanks for the support, peeps.

You do realize you don't have to kill it in that quest right?
