I quit worrying about silent assassin and just started to see how much fun I could have getting through the levels.

I think achievements have ruined fun in a sense as people are obsesessd with getting Platinum so they only play that way.

Who gives a **** how many platinum games you have, if you have more than 4-5 you may need to rethink how you spend your nights.

I noticed as well how the inclusion of in level challenges encourage players to just kill whoever and play Rambo style in order to achieve them.

There are challenges for suit only and infiltrator, but suit only means you can just kill everyone, and infiltrator is easy since you can just use disguises. None are based on SA.

It definitely leans towards more of a middle ground of combat and stealth than just stealth, but you do still get the most points for getting SA. So people will get challenges, but then I'm sure they'll still go for maxing out a score eventually, requiring them to play SA.

Its ridiculous, imagine if Ghosts and Goblins on the NES had an "achievement" where you had to beat the game using the flame only. It would be insane yet people would try to do it and not have any fun with it in order to get this stupid achievement.

yea I also find achievements to be pretty stupid. Look how cool I am I got a platinum!!!

but the in game challenges I'm doing anyways (mainly the kills) since that's always been a longtime hitman staple (killing enemies in different ways)

Killing in different ways is fun, which is the point of the game. Now some people love the exact style getting silent assassin entails.

But, this board is full of people complaining how hard it is and how they need to tweak and patch, etc. Why are you playing the game in a way which frustrates and angers you when there are multiple ways to play it?

hell yea getting SA is key, going to go through on expert after getting all the different kills to try to SA everything, will be tough though

yeah i played through once on normal trying to get as many SA's as possible. i did pretty good too. what i would do is try to play silent, then if i was noticed i would get pissed and go ballistic killing everyone in my path to kinda get a feel for the level, after i got the level layout kinda down i would just restart from the checkpoint before i went on the killing spree.
I also love the new point shooting system by the way. it adds a nice cinematic quality to the kills. the only thing i wish they didnt get rid of it the slow motion, grey dieing sequence where you could stay alive if you got multiple headshots. that was so badass in contracts and blood money. the contracts mode is also pry the best thing that has happened to the series imo. i love making my own hits and the possibilities are nearly endless.

I am one of the people who really enjoys playing for Silent Assassin rank, but after getting to the 2nd to last level twice (second time on Purist) and losing my save both times I'm now waiting for a patch :'(

I agree, they can result in you losing focus on the fun factor. They are also nice though once you have had your fun just looking for a challenge or reason to play some more.

Good or bad, its up to the player to decide.
