Anybody else feel that the factions are similar to a game of rock paper scissors? Obviously skill plays a vital role in determining the outcome, but skill aside, between two equally skilled people, it seems as though one faction will always beat another. I'm not going to say which, because i want to know if anybody else feels this way, and if so, which faction is which?

Kinda, but it seems like each faction's solos were specifically designed to make up for its weaknesses.

i.e.:

Ironheade - fast, mobile, most independent troops. Can most easily cut off Tainted Coil before they get going, but generally gets bested by a full Drowning Doom army... But then you have Light of Dawn which, if played at the right moment, can completely cripple a Doom army and turn the whole battle around.

Drowning Doom - slow, troops all dependent on each other, works best in a concentrated cluster of death. A full army can crush Ironheade but will get beaten by Tainted Coil when they get going - but they have Encompassing Gloom to stop the Coil in their tracks.

Tainted Coil - 'snowball effect' type faction - weak initially, but once they get going they rapidly increase in strength. Also the most expensive faction. Can usually win against the Doom, who will wait a while to get a bigger army out at which point the Coil's army will usually be better, but can be attacked early and in multiple places by Ironheade. However, they have Skies Afire and the Tick Choppers solo to make up for their weak defense.

Yep, thats what i had in mind. I think the selling point is that drowning doom can possess ironheades rock crusher, but not the tainted coils bleeding death. Also, the rock crusher can outspeed the bleeding death, leading it away.

I think of the strange quirks with this one is the main characters are the big equalizer. I agree that Drowning Doom can normally overpower most Ironheade guys but playing the main character seems to be the big equalizer. They all have similar attacks and any fight between NPC units can be completely turned around by the player…in fact, this is encouraged to win. There’s some disparity but there’s a bigger chance of toppling that.

Ok, I know where you are going with this and it's not true. People say
Ironheade>Drowning doom because of light of dawn
Drowning Doom>Tainted Coil because of encompassing gloom or whatever its called
Tainted Coil>Ironheade because they kick ass

These are true, but in practice they don't matter that much. There is no real rock, paper, scissors, its all about what strategy you use. That being said, Tainted Coil is much better than the other two, who are roughly the same.
