Can you ignore the GTA nonsense and just play casino games?
- Topic Archived
You can imagine how a game called 'This is Vegas' got my hopes up, especially with the trailer... HD giant casino rooms, walls of slot machines, brightly coloured sparkling lights everywhere, poker tables....
.... and then a man with a gun comes along. D:
So, yeah, to cut to the chase.
Does anyone know if you can just ignore the GTA-style gameplay and just wander around casinos sandbox-style, playing a wide range of casino games? If not, I'll be passing up on this game and resume waiting for one that actually focuses on the casino lifestyle...
If you can though, even while I won't enjoy the core part of the gameplay, I'd still probably get it just for the casino element. Even in DOAX2 I spent most of my time in the casino at night....
This game looks horrible.

I wouldn't hold my breath, I'll be suprised if the casino elements end up even as decent as GTA San Andreas pulled them off, and that wasn't all that great.
Let's be honest, even the games that only focus on gambling and casino games and poker, they don't do a very good job of replicating the experience or giving you any kind of real depth, so to expect any great amount of betting or gambling fun is probably going to get your hopes dashed.
Plus, not that Surreal is a bad developer, but they are basially middle of the road, and almost all of thier games lacked those little detail things that make great games great, so don't expect miracles with this game.
this game makes me curios but i still need more info like a preview of hands on by gamespot.
Well they just released one. I take "Hands-on previews" with a grain of salt though. How often do you get these that just come out and say "The game plays and look bad." They wouldn't GET opportunities for hands-on previews if they did.
i just watched the video walkthought and i got to say this game looks fun but i still not going to buy it after that video but i will rent it from gamefly just to many games that are must buy this year this not one of them in 08.
Maybe you could, I dont see why not, but I have no doubt you wont be able to make it big just gambling, since the story looks like it involves guns and fighting.
I bet GTA San Andreas did a better job at replicating a Casino than this game.
stop comparing this to GTA
this is vegas not newyork
