How the hell do I map things to quick slots?

I just started the game, and the only time I can use my biotic powers is when I hold Space bar and click on it. How do I make it so that I can press 1 or 2 to use my push, lift, etc biotic powers?

Hold spacebar to pause, then click and drag your abilities to the quick slots.

It doesn't let me click and drag, unless the drag part is a tiny little pixel that I haven't managed to click each time I tried to drag it >=[

hold space, after the game paused, dont release the space, click the bottom boxes where there are your skills, weapons, etc, click and hold your left mouse button on one ofthe abilities, and drag it to the Quick slot

works for me...

If it's not dragging, there may be some problem in your Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect\Config files, particularly BIOInput.ini. There's a "Default" file you can replace it with in Program Files\Mass Effect\BioGame\Config folder called "DefaultInput.ini". Overwriting the BIOInput file will change all your controls back to default, and there is a chance there may be a different problem.

On a different note, if you hate hanging onto spacebar to bring up the hud, you can edit your BIOInput file to add a toggle version where you only have to press it once to get it on, then once to get it off, instead of hanging onto it like you have to do.

I figured it out. Shephard's stuff was in the left side of my HUD as if he was an NPC, rather than in the middle. That's why I couldn't drag and drop his crap before. Either that, or one of the NPCs that died in the beginning had the same biotics as my main and tricked me into thinking it was him >_>.
