Mass Effect 2
This game is so buggy

First time player here. So many bad things have happened. In the first area I got stuck on a chair, onto a table, and went into the ceiling. This has happened many times in many different areas on many different objects. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-i_sucNm460s/UBPRoZsvsPI/AAAAAAAAByc/SbZIJ2qxbW0/s1920/masseffectbugs.jpg On the first mission, my team mates insisted there was one enemy remaining and continuously shot at a random box. The door to the next area would not open, and I could not advance because this enemy was not dead. After about 10 minutes, I decided to reload my save file. This confused me greatly. Shepherd, on multiple occasions, decided to stop turning and walked backwards. He would also shoot through his back, with glitchy arms. In the cutscene when I met Wrex, the NPCs were all misaligned and I couldn't see anything. Wrex (headbutted?) air. In another cutscene, Jacob got stuck in front of the camera and I couldn't see anything going on (and he just started walking around randomly). When I received advanced weapon training for my shotgun, Shepherd began holding every weapon in my inventory as a shotgun. He shot my pistols like a shotgun, and when he reloaded, the animation was really glitchy. It made aiming difficult. I've also had enemies run at me once or twice in a t-stance shooting bullets from their gun in their non-moving arm and hand. This game confuses me...........
I've experienced some glitches, but nothing like you. Are you patched to the latest version? --- "You can lead a man to knowledge, but you can't make him think!"
From: Metal Gear Fred | #002 I've experienced some glitches, but nothing like you. Are you patched to the latest version? Yes, I'm playing this game off of steam. Also, in the collector vessel, one of the platforms that came down stopped halfway through the air and was stuck diagonally in the air. I have no idea if that was intentional but it made killing the enemies quite awkward.
How far above the minimum requirements is your computer? --- "You can lead a man to knowledge, but you can't make him think!"
From: Metal Gear Fred | #004 How far above the minimum requirements is your computer? Very very far above. I run the game at 60(+?) FPS constantly on maximum graphics with driver anti-aliasing. i7 860 Radeon HD 7850 12 GB DDR3 1600 I would assume that this isn't the problem, or at least it would be strange if it was...

o.O That's so far above I'd hurt my neck just looking at it. I'm not very techy, but I'd have said it was the quad-core CPU. Can't find much about problems with quad-cores though. I did find something suggesting to turn off the in-game overlay from the Steam settings. Maybe give that a go? --- "You can lead a man to knowledge, but you can't make him think!"
This confused me greatly. Not every area has proper "instant death due to no floor below you" settings. We you bioticing people? Shepherd, on multiple occasions, decided to stop turning and walked backwards. He would also shoot through his back, with glitchy arms. This ones newish to me. When it happens to me, I'm actually facing to the side, not the back. Double tapping Esc fixes it for me. Never had anything like the Wrex one. In another cutscene, Jacob got stuck in front of the camera and I couldn't see anything going on (and he just started walking around randomly). Jacob does that. Recent playthrough he was moonwalking in the background while I talked to Anderson. Never seen anything like the rest. Thing is, I've had playthroughs without a single bug (except for the backpedal on to the chair and now you are stuck in the air one. That one happens every single playthrough, multiple times), and I've had some that were covered with bugs. No idea why. --- http://www.smbc-comics.com/comics/20120528.gif
From: Glavewurm | #007 Not every area has proper "instant death due to no floor below you" settings. We you bioticing people? I'm an engineer, but maybe Jacob was. The enemy in question was one of those stationary robot sentries. He kept doing it over and over even after the enemy was "invisible" saying "I've got 'em! :D" This ones newish to me. When it happens to me, I'm actually facing to the side, not the back. Double tapping Esc fixes it for me. He just stops turning with the mouse. So I can run sideways, backwards, whichever.
Mostly the bugs I get are Sheperd stepping on platforms she's not supposed to, like tables and ledges you normally can't. I get stuck, though most of the time I can get down. Sometimes, I need to reload a (hopefully) nearby save. Sometimes during conversations, the camera is angled differently. As in, normally when characters speak, they take up the center of your screen. In my case, sometimes the screen is pointed at their feet, or at a wall. I can still see the characters moving in the back ground. It's like there's having a camera man who's dozing off while shooting a film. --- Current serious game: Mass Effect 2 Thoughts: Liara all the way!!! |
