The first DJ game received a 6.5. DJ2 on PSP, by all accounts a better game in every way, received a 6.4. Shouldn't it have gotten a higher score than the game it was better than? Now DJ:RoE on Wii gets a whopping 6.5 despite being a significantly enhanced and improved version of the game. Brian Fishman has zero credibility in my eyes.
Full disclosure: I was co-lead designer and audio lead on DJ2 for PSP, but I left Backbone after the game was finished.
I can't say I believe that you actually worked on Death JR but I can tell you that I agree with your comment. If the original DJ scores a 6.5 and then a sequel ported over to the Wii with enhanced graphics and controls comes out and gets the same score...something is wrong.
The PSP version was released in 2006, the Wii version in 2008. Progress is made, standards change, competition gets tougher.
Yeah I know, which is why this game isnt a direct port. It has improved visuals and gameplay to make it more up to date which is why the review of the game doesnt make any sence.
I loved DJ2 on the PSP, Gamespot are foolish anyway.
Example: I think they said the original DMC 3 was too hard then gave the expansion a LOWER score saying it was too easy.
Go ahead and hate me.
I love pissing people off.
