Well its funny people mention RE4 cause it was sort of the game that made these quick time events popular. It was done in that game just so that players would be scared even during the cutscenes since if you were not on edge ready for anything you might get killed even during the cutscene lol. Problem is now every game developer is trying to just insert them everywhere even if they don't make sense.

I agree that it should be enough to just to point an shoot the facehugger out of the air. There could be a scary cutscene where one grabs your neck an you have to try to pry it off with QTE's but I wouldn't want to have to do that all the time.
