Warhammer 40k Lore

I am really likig the story, Emperor being a thousand and thousand of years God emperor that uses phsycists to add health to his life lenght, Ruthless warriors fighting each other and no one seems to be truly good.

Are there any sites that have short stories or recomended books on the lore and history of the diffrent chapters? I am total new on this so sites to short stories would be a good start.

Thanks in advance.

I am new to all the lore too and just went on Wikipedia and read a load of stuff, that seems a good place to start!

Wikipedia is ok, but The Lexicanum is better.

Thanks for the page, looks like a wiki with just warhammer 40k stuff in it, will digg into it later at night when I feel more mellow.

go to a games workshop and start playing the table top game, you willget codex books and rule books with some lore in it, or go to a public library or a book store and get some of the warhammer 40k books, Gaunts Ghosts is a good series. but ya the lexi thingy is good i have used it before.

and too think this game is almost 25 years old, it originated in england, last year was the original warhammer fantasys 25th aniversary

"en warhammer affär som heter Spel på kullagatan. men nu när jag kom dit senast så var där helt tomt allt slut och det stog att butiken stängts "
Says: Spel is a warhammer store in kullagatan, but it was completly empty when I was there the last time and a sign said it was closed down.

Looked this up before, basically trying to say there is no real fan base of warhammer 40k near me, I would have to travel to malmö and that's really far for me :(

Will check the library tho, what would be a good begining? Space Marines stories?

chavve: Where do you live? I've found several GW-stores in Sweden of varying sizes. You can do a search at: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/storelocator/results.jsp

From what I've read and been able to see, Europe, especially Scandinavia, tends to favor Warhammer Fantasy, as opposed to 40k. Of course, I only have posts on message boards to guide this weak generalization, but that what I've been told.
