First of all, "few and far between"? You must be new or something, because Gyarados and Salamence are two VERY common physical sweepers. Obviously Gyarados alone is enough of a problem for you to warrant making this thread in the first place.

Second, Porygon2 can easily switch in on Heatran, Jolteon, Vaporeon, or Electivire as well, and either hit and run with Thunder Wave against Heatran and Vaporeon, or Toxic stall with Recover against Jolteon and Electivire. Or he can switch in against Levitators to avoid Spikes and Toxic Spikes.

Not only that, but defensively EV'ing him in general makes him a fairly good tank with a solid movepool, that I've found a lot of people mispredicting against me. He is certainly a dark horse in my book.

I find Porygon-2 to be dead weight too often.

It forces Gyarados to switch out, but can't threaten much besides Thunder Wave (which doesn't bother me because I run Jolteon a lot).

Porygon-2 is not a Salamence counter because it can't take MixMence at all. It only does well vs Choiced Heatran stuck on a Fire move. It does terribly vs Sub-Tran who will Sub on the switch and hit you with Toxic, and can't penetrate defensive Heatran. Same with Jolteon, it only does well vs SpecsJolt stuck on Thunderbolt. Sub-Pass Jolt will just Sub and pass off to something like Lucario, whose Sub will not be broken by a resisted Ice Beam, and then you're in real trouble when Lucario is behind a Sub.

It's also a good Salamence counter, imo, with Ice Punch.

LO Draco Meteor:

350 Atk vs 306 Def & 294 HP (140 Base Power): 223 - 264 (75.85% - 89.80%)

15% chance of OHKO after Stealth Rock actually. Not even close to a counter.

My Porygon2 has both taken on and defeated several MixMence.

Oi. Either I get a Porygon2 who ends up as a deadweight half the time, or I spend absolutely forever breeding for a Wishpassing Bold Vaporeon with HP Electric. Fun times, guys, fun times. D:

Alternatively, I could trade for such a Vaporeon. Hint hint, anyone?

^Hit the trade boards and ask a hacker to make you a legal Vaporeon. I would do it myself, but I'm busy atm.

Draco Meteor vs standard max HP Porygon-2:

350 Atk vs 226 Def & 374 HP (140 Base Power): 304 - 358 (81.28% - 95.72%)

Unless Draco Meteor misses, good luck switching into that.

vaporeon or other bulky waters (best with hp electr)
