How did you survive Bayonetta?

I'm on Normal mode, and for a guy who beat DMD in DMC1, I sure am having an awful lot of trouble just staying alive. I'm addicted to Shots at this point (the extra life thing), and Platinum medals quickly become rare after a time. I'm on Chapter 5 right now and don't know if I'm gonna make it without dying.

What are you best setups and purchases? I like using the sword, personally.

Have a look at some of these videos to see if you cab learn anything new man, there's some pretty cool stuff there, but it's pretty advanced stuff. If you have any questions, just ask. These parts might be kind o dead but someone always checks in & their good with advice.

Learn to dodge.

I know it sounds basic but...when you have a drop of blood left, it can switch it to being drenched in it. Make sense?

Also take time to practice...get familiar with the more complicated combos.

And Im not gonna go any further now...my flippin browser closed two times and I had to type this up again...twice.

Gah!!...

You have to learn how to dodge (pull the right trigger) just before you would have gotten hit. This jumps you away and puts you into witch time (everything slows down except Bayonetta). Once you master this the game becomes much easier.

At the loading screen before you enter the chapter you can practice. I forget which button to push to put you into the practice mode. Figure it out and practice.

The sword (Shiruba) on hands and the guns (Scarbourough Fairs) on feet are a good combination. It is a matter of taste and you will just have to try them all out to see which combination you like best. I actually do quite well with guns on both the hands and the feet.

The Punch (P), Kick (K), Punch (P) combo with the Shiruba is really powerful and the wicked weave at the end hits multiple angels. The keystrokes are Y, B, Y, by the way.

The P, P, P (press Y, Y, Y) combo with the Scarbourough Fairs is also almost overpowered.

The buttons do not need to be pressed as fast as possible. You will have to play with the timing to get everything to work for you.

Finally, learn how to "dodge Offset". Push the Y button, pull the right trigger, then push the Y button again. Do this as many times as the combo you are trying to do. Bayonetta basically will shoot or hit, dodge, shoot or hit, dodge, and finish off with a wicked weave. Depends on the weapons you have equipped and the combo you are doing. Super powerful.

Well don't give it all away.

Part of the thrill is finding out on your own.

I got the lightning claw thing. I just mash Y and YBY now.

Farmed up some rings and powered up on hearts and magic. It's become a bit breezier now.

Back.

Personally, I rock the Shuraba and either Scarborough Fair or Odette, and I make sure to have Air Dodge and Crow Within, for defensive purposes, and all the combat upgrades (except for maybe Umbran Portal Kick and Witch Twist) for offensive purposes.

If you're halo farming, I'd also suggest Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa. Great for reflecting/deflecting projectiles that don't give you Witch Time, breaking combos (especially those of Grace/Glory and Gracious/Glorious), and getting extended Witch Time via countering (especially off Gracious/Glorious).

Reflexes and WT. As much as I love this game, I never really found it difficult untill the Lost Chapter...that part owns me. Only weapons I really used were Default weapons till I got the Scarborough Fair, put those on feet, owned the game. Messed around with a few other weapons here and there, but didn't need em. Even NSIC wasn't too challenging, but considering the fact that I was almost as leveled as possible by the time I got there, that's understandable. Really only used other weapons for the achievements.
