Game won't launch

#1ResistancebrahPosted 1/22/2011 10:59:31 PM
Finally just finished 13gig download & went to go launch the game and it's stuck on the screen with the SOE logo, I've contacted SOE via the chat & the only solution he could give me was to download a flash update & a different .exe off there website I have also updated my .NET framework.

I was wondering if any one on these forums has had the similar problem and has found a solution, If any one could help me that would be greatly appreciated.

Update windows, your internet browser, all your hardware drivers, your motherboard BIOS.

At this point, without knowing your systems specs, there is no help.

This happened to me too and I just restarted the launcher a couple of times.
It seems like it has gotten alot of better since the small patch yesterday, but might be random.
There is another thread here with a "fix" but i have not tried it so i dont know if it acrually works. Anyway here it is:

FOUND HTIS AND IT WORKED!!

-------------------------------

Well just going to repost this here as I just posted a fix to this on my blog.

Been working on it and figured I'd see if anyone else needed to know.

Just to make sure the file doesn't get reverted I've told Steam not to automatically update the game.

So anyway Iíve been really peeved over the past couple of days.

I bought DCUO via Steam despite it not being released in Australia, and no matter what I tried, the Launchpad application was totally useless.

Tonight I finally solved the problem, which was outdated URLs in the Launchpad.ini file.

This is the file thatís meant to tell the Launchpad.exe where the latest app data is located as well as the interface code.

So below are the offending two lines that I replaced:

webapp=http://launch.soe.com/lp3/index.html
digestURL=http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/manifest/launchpad/launchpad-all/lp3-dcuo-live.soe

And I replaced them with the following lines:

webapp=http://launcher.station.sony.com/lp3/index.html
digestURL=http://soecontent.station.sony.com/patch/digest/launchpad/launchpad-release/live/launchpad.soe

Now if youíre observant youíll notice that while there may be some similarities, the domains are totally different!
There was no way possible for the program to function when using entirely wrong URLs.
Thus it could not check for the latest release, could not login, could not do anything other than sit there looking useless.

So if you have that small problem I had with it doing absolutely nothing but showing the SOE logo, go in to your game directory and fix that one small file.
And feel free to thank me
