1.2 couldve brought me back to this game, total letdown

#1wieheistduPosted 4/18/2012 3:13:36 PM
I really hoped by now SWTOR wouldve added, changed, fixed areas or certain issues with this game to make it really worth the monthly fee to play. But, for the last 4 months, it has been just dissapointment after dissapointment. Patch 1.2, pretty much re-re-confirmed that BW/EA either just dont care anymore, are totally clueless, or both. Now this isnt a troll thread or BW bashing thread. I am just giving my 2 cents on how it is really sad to see such a once promising game potential being squandered by poor management and ignorance, and seedy practices. After the 1.2 fiasco, I dont know if there is still time to turn things around for TOR. It seems like the current world event was a last-ditch effort to help stave off some the backlash from 1.2 being so lackluster. If I were in charge of TOR's team, I would do an about face and start applying all the players most requested suggestions and actually listen to what customers are wanting. They really need to get off their butts and start listening to their customers if they want to stop the hemmorage of subs. Heres what they shoud do in future patches to make this game more fun:

1.3>A) Add ranked Warzones with improved reward for the losing side

B)Add LFG tool for dungeons, heroics and raids

C)Add guild leveling perks, guild search tool

D)Change legacy system to add better rewards and perks (like adding new exotic races to play like wookies, rhodians,, etc) Special items and such that dont cost millions.
E)More GTN changes to make it more user-friendly

F) Remove the lame fleet stations and just make it so you can go from planet to planet

G) Cut out the instancing/shards to make it easier to have a growing community

E) More UI improvements

What to add in the future:

1.4>A) Add weather effect, night/day cycle, wildlife, etc to worlds

B) A 2nd leveling route/planet/zone for each side to add more incentive to roll alts

C) Change space combat so its less "Star Foxy"

D) More games, fun stuff, community events to make the game more social focused (Pazaak, racing, casino, world events, etc)
E) Adding more npcs that walk, talk and interact with the environment.

Anyway, that is what I think BW should do to keep this game from failing. But at this rate, it almost seems they are trying their hardest to do the wrong things and see the game fail. I cant help but wonder how different the game may have been if EA hadnt bought Bioware.

Allow me to give my two cents to yours:

1) 1.3>A) Add ranked Warzones with improved reward for the losing side

Won't solve anything you have ... Ranked = Epeen that is it ... won't make it better.

B)Add LFG tool for dungeons, heroics and raids

Well, they have one so I believe you mean something better than what they have.

C)Add guild leveling perks, guild search tool

Perks? **** no, they don't need more "WoW rip off" chants then they already have.
Guild search would be nice.

D)Change legacy system to add better rewards and perks (like adding new exotic races to play like wookies, rhodians,, etc) Special items and such that dont cost millions.

1) Wookiees and Rodians ... seriously, if you are going to list the names, spell them right.
2) That could work, and yes on the cost.

E)More GTN changes to make it more user-friendly

I find it very user friendly ... then again, I know how to use it.

F) Remove the lame fleet stations and just make it so you can go from planet to planet

The Fleet is used for Flashpoints ... so you want them to remove the Flashpoints or just have you have to be on the planet for certain flash points ... kinda lame ... and also, the Fleet is kinda like Stormwind and Ogrimmar in WoW ... outside of not being raidable.

G) Cut out the instancing/shards to make it easier to have a growing community

... explain what you mean here?

E) More UI improvements

Like what?

What to add in the future:

1.4>A) Add weather effect, night/day cycle, wildlife, etc to worlds

There is wildlife on worlds ... I don't know what game you played but I remember Tauntauns on Hoth ... and as for the rest, yeah that would be nice.

B) A 2nd leveling route/planet/zone for each side to add more incentive to roll alts

Outside classes have story driven aspects to them ... this would require removing class stories or altering them so certain planets can have altered orders ... this would be either completely changing the game or very huge changes ... not realistic.

C) Change space combat so its less "Star Foxy"

1) Not everyone played Star Fox
2) Lots of people like that Style
3) It is a mini-game

D) More games, fun stuff, community events to make the game more social focused (Pazaak, racing, casino, world events, etc)

Pazaak would be you know the casino ... and gambling = questionable for a game that is multiplayer.

E) Adding more npcs that walk, talk and interact with the environment.

What MMO has this? This I also have to say is unrealistic. Yeah, some patrolling people would be nice, but this seems so childish.

Well I agree they need a Cross Server LFG tool ASAP.

The lower servers are just dead my first character fleet population hovers from 5-20 people and peak times 30 people.

I think the server instances is completely killing this game. There is no point in designing 4-player quest when you can't even find another person willing to group in any of the level up planets.

I play on Swiftsure and population hovers 30-40 for each planet. And this is suppose to be 2nd largest North American server.

I don't see the legacy costs as THAT big of a deal. They are one time costs for your ENTIRE account on that server.

It isn't but it is definitely something they NEED to work on. Some of the NPCs have some interesting conversations though.

In the GW I didn't see many NPC walking around and interacting any more than what I actually see in SWToR ... good job being misleading ... A+

You posted 3 minutes after I posted and commented on a 17 minute video? What? And ffs, at 0:31, you see a charr walk towards some humans and then they start to squabble. It's obvious you didn't even watch it. gg.

Yes, a scripted event that is on the NPC programmed path ... OMG so awesome and new!
