I didn't mean one person specifically, hell I would love it if my opinion really mattered... I would love it if even once, you could bring something interesting or thought provoking to the table --- The person quoting me is a great big dummy
george43 posted... I liked SWTOR. I really really did. Lack of end game content, garbage dev feedback, terrible class balancing with 1.2..... And along comes guild wars 2, that has no subscription fee........oh lawdy, Bioware has got to be crapping their pants. Watch, some threads will pop up on GW2 board hating on it, all paid by EA.

Why do people think if anyone has negative things about GW2 they have to be a SWTOR fanboy or work for EA. I know EA does viral astroturfing marketing. but that doesnt mean everyone has to be an EA employee. You are pretty much saying GW2 deserves no hate or criticism. And that sounds suspiciously familiar to the TOR fanboys. Seriously GW2 is getting so much hype and after SWTOR got so much hype and failed to deliver, i expect the same to happen to GW2 just like all the other MMOs that get so much hype before release

I mean, it doesn't take a genius to figure that one out. And that's pretty much every fanboy, for everything, ever. What they love is perfect and flawless (or "the flaws aren't that bad, if you think about it," or some other reasoning like that.) Note that this is different from someone who's a fan, who can say "I still like this despite its flaws, but can see why people don't share the same opinion as me." I want Guild Wars 2 to do well, for the same reason why I want Warcraft, or Final Fantasy 11/14, or City of Heroes, or TERA to do well - we're all gamers, we all have our vices, and I'd want to keep playing Star Wars for a long time to come - which is probably what they want to do with their games of choice.

I honestly agree with you and I do want these MMOs to do good because i like playing good games and would like to have a good catalog of games to choose from but i have become bittered and no longer get my hopes up. What i am really trying to say is that so much hype and fanboyism only will hurt the game. This article makes some really good points. but like most things on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/02/28/the-soapbox-theres-no-such-thing-as-a-miracle-mmo/

The constant, incessant, ramblings of ten people don't amount to a hill o' beans in my world, so does the fact that you stick around on the board of a game you don't play not bother you? It would pretty much equate to "rock bottom" for me, so kudos to you for not killing yourself....

Then forgive me because i was already called an EA employee in this post in this thread darkace77450 posted... trickbird posted... This is not entirely true becuase the "sub fee" will come in expansions you need to buy every 6 months or so to get current content. This ridiculously false statement marks you as either incredibly ignorant or a blatant liar and destroys any credibility you might have been afforded. It also makes me wonder if you are an EA viral marketer; and I'm not one to make that accusation lightly.

trickbird posted... I thought Galaxies went under because of New Game Enhancement and how they made Jedi a starting class which angered the player base. And that it was a mutual agreement to shut the game down. The term established MMO is relative becuase Matrix Online was active for 4 years. And Star Wars Galaxies was active for 8 years. Nope. Galaxies soldiered on a good, what, three or four years after the NGE was implemented? All the while it was still profitable. It wasn't until LucasArts raised the licensing fee that Sony said, "You know what? Not worth it anymore." I think it was something similar with the Matrix, only the studio that owns the Matrix IP didn't want to license it out period. Think it was Warner Bros, which would make sense since they've spent the last few years trying to break into the game industry. --- Sychotic Quote for the Whenever: "Don't think I'll go easy on you just because you're a dog." |
