NAT Type: Moderate. What does that mean?

My NAT type used to be open, then about a week ago it became Moderate. Since then I have seen an increase in lag on my end. What is NAT type and why (if it does) it affect my connection speed?

Google how to "Open NAT"; it will improve your connection vastly.

mine is moderate as well. OPen, moderate, strict

ideally it says open.
NAT= Network Address Translation

If your router is open and ur xbox 360 reciever is moderate then it has trouble communicating and ends up being a bad connection. its pertty tough to play like that trust me.

I don't know how to tell you uum....have AIDS.

On topic: Google it. It affects who you can join etc.

It changed to moderate without you doing anything??? Try turning your router on and off (mine switches back to moderate too sometimes). It doesn't affect your connection speed at all, but can it can prevent you from connecting to some people.

Yeah it was open for about the first week I had the game (got it 11/13) amd then it changed by itself to Moderate. I know for a fact that my roommate and I havent done anything to our wireless network, so I don't know why this happened.

Mine does the same thing from time to time. I just unplug the router and plug it back in and that sets it back to open.

If you have a linksys router, they are especially suseptible to a caching error.

Unplug every 2-3 months.
