Comprehensive Noob Guide to MW2 v1.00
________________________________________________________________________
This guide will mostly revolve around creating classes, since that's what people seem to have the most trouble grasping. I see so many bad custom classes in matchmaking and some of these people would really do allot better if it wasn‘t for their class choice. While having a good custom class won't instantly make you a pro, it's a good thing to have in order to improve your game without necessarily changing your tactics, or essentially how you like to play the game and have fun.

Keep in mind the best play style isn’t JUST camping or JUST rushing, but a healthy combination of knowing when to do one or the other.

Sections:
I. Playstyle’s and Creating an Appropriate Custom Class
II. Best Guns of Each Category
III. Best Perks of Each Category
IV. Miscellaneous

It’s important to know that players have 100 health in core, and 30 health in hardcore.

High Damage Weapons Have a base damage of 40 in range, 30 out of range.
Low Damage Weapons Have a base damage of 30 in range, 20 out of range.
LMG’s and snipers do not have a damage drop out of range.
LMG’s lose 10 damage when equipped with a silencer.
Snipers lose 20 damage when equipped with a silencer.
The FAL does 50 in range and 35 out. With Holo it does 55 in range and 40 out.
The UMP does 40 damage in range and 35 out of range.
The vector does 25 damage in range, and 20 out of range(only difference between 30 weapons comes into play when accounting for headshot multipliers)
35 damage=3 shot at any range even without stopping power.

First off I’m going to establish some ground rules. The following mentioned items should under no circumstances be used if you are trying to improve your average game performance.

***Note: This guide is intended for core game modes. IF you play hardcore, you are best off using a silenced UMP because it is a 1 shot kill at any range, while giving you max mobility and a great hip fire.

---Perks:
Any third perk except ninja
Hardline(On any class that isn’t a silenced UMP)
Bling

---Primary Weapons:
Riot Shield
F2000

---Secondary Weapons:
TMP
Single G18,
Javelin,
Model 1887’s
Thumper without danger close
In most situations handguns are pretty bad secondary’s as well.

---Attatchments:
Shotgun Attachment
Thermal Sight(non-snipers)

---Equipment:
Tactical Insertion
C4 in most situations
Frag grenades without danger close
Flash and smoke grenades in most situations

---Killstreaks: Counter UAV
Precision Airstrike

Stealth Bomber
EMP
Nuke

---Deathstreaks:

I. Playstyle and creating an appropriate class
-------------------------------------------------------
Depending on how you play, you will obviously want to choose different perks. In this guide I’m mainly going to be giving you the best perk/gun combos for given situations. You may argue with me all you like, but unless you’ve religiously studied the game’s stats(not the in game stat bars, those are completely wrong), than you would be better off following this guide. You CAN replace some of

A. Ghost Class
-------------------
For your stealth class there’s really only 2 real options.

1) UMP+Cold Blooded+Silencer
---Recommended First Perks: Marathon, or Scavenger(For you claymore campers…)
---Recommended Secondary’s: Do not use Single M93 raffica, USP, M9, TMP, Single G18

2)M21+Cold Blooded+Silencer(Ghost Sniper)
---Recommended First Perk: Sleight of Hand
---Recommended Secondary’s: Do not use Single M93, USP, M9, TMP, Single G18, Launchers. You’ll probably want to go with a Shotgun, or Akimbo Rafficas/Magnum/Deagle for the fast swap, or maybe a silenced PP2000

I honestly hate this class but some people want a ghost sniper… and this is how it’s done.

B. Mainslay Class
-----------------------
There’s only 3 AR’s that really get the job done.

If you can aim…

1)FAMAS+Stopping Power
---Attachment: Anything except extended mags, silencer, thermal or the shotgun attachment.
---Recommended First Perks: Sleight of Hand, or Scavenger if you have claymores and the grenade launcher attachment
---Recommended Secondary’s: SPAS, Striker, M93, PP2000, G18 Akimbo. I usually prefer something sprayable in case your aim suddenly fails you.

If you can handle recoil at a longer distance…

2)TAR-21+Stopping Power
---Attachment: Your choice but if you’re going to use a dot sight go with holographic. Extended mags is pretty unnecessary. If you’re going to use a silencer this is your best bet. No thermal or master key.
---Recommended First Perks: Sleight of Hand, or Scavenger if you have claymores and the grenade launcher attachment. Marathon also works the best with this AR as you can spray it in close range, and considering it has a faster kill time than the UMP you still have a decent chance in CQC. The TAR is a great all around gun.
Recommended Secondary’s: SPAS, Striker, M93, PP2k, G18 Akimbo, Launcher

If you can’t do either of the above there’s only one AR for you…

3)ACR+Stopping Power
---Attachment: Your choice. No thermal or master key. Extended mags is again, unnecessary.
---Recommended First Perks: Sleight of Hand, Scavenger
---Recommended Secondary’s: SPAS, Striker, M93, PP2k, G18 Akimbo

C. Rushing Class
----------------------
1) UMP+Silencer+Marathon+Lightweight
Recommended Secondary’s: Do not use Single M93 raffica, USP, M9, TMP, Single G18, Launchers

2)UMP/Vector+Marathon+Stopping Power
---Attachment: Do not use rapid fire
---Recommended Secondary’s: SPAS, Striker, M93, PP2k, G18 Akimbo

D. Explosive Class
------------------------
1)Tar-21+One Man Army+Danger Close+Grenade Launcher

2)Tar-21+Scavenger+Danger Close+Secondary Launcher

E. Light Machine Guns
-----------------------------
1)RPD/AUG+Grip+Sleight of Hand

F. Sniper Rifles
--------------------
1)Barett .50 Cal/Intervention+Sleight of Hand+Stopping Power
---Attachment: I don’t recommend ACOG
---Recommended Secondary’s: SPAS, Striker, M93, PP2k, G18 Akimbo

2)WA2000+Not Stopping Power+Sleight of Hand
---Recommended Secondary’s: Do not use Single M93, USP, M9, TMP, Single G18, Launchers

3)WA2000+Stopping Power+Silencer+Sleight of Hand
---Recommended Scondary’s: SPAS, Striker, M93, PP2k, G18 Akimbo

IV: Miscellaneous
-----------------------
-Holo sight on FAL increases damage to 55-40, with stopping power a 2 shot at any range, and a 1 shot to the head.
-Holo sight on M16 decreases spread.
-The M93R pulls out as fast as pistols and can be used in Last Stand even when akimbo.
-Sitrep pro, even though it multiplies enemy footsteps by 4, has no affect on ninja pro except when the ninja user walks on certain surfaces.
-Putting Extended Mags on the P90 gives you an increased sprint duration, much like extreme conditioning from WaW and CoD4

Your welcome, hopefully this will clarify allot of things and reduce the clutter of kids asking "what should I put on this gun" and redirect most of it here.

This was needed a long time ago the guides I've seen here have been less than helpful <_>

Nice opinions. For real, Magnum>any other pistol no matter what perk. And the WA2000 is better than the intervention. Maybe not the Barret, but easily better than the Intervention.
