1. What is Final Fantasy Type-0?

Final Fantasy Type-0 is an action RPG for the psp that is set to release in Japan on October 27, 2011. A downloadable version of Final Fantasy Type-0 will also be available on the same day as the UMD release for Japan

2. Relation to Final fantasy XIII?

Both Final fantasy XIII and Type-0 are a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis. A series that uses similar crystal themes and mythologies. Though terms like "L'cie" and "Pulse" are used in both games, that's as far as connections go. Type-0 revolves around different characters and exists in a completely different world

3. Will this come to North America/Europe?

As of right now, there isn't any word on any sort of release outside of Japan. All Square Enix has said on this is that they'll look into the possibility of a western release. There is nothing as of right now confirming that it will or will not come to other countries.

4. Is there a demo?

Yes, but only in Japanese. It takes up 332 MB. It can be downloaded from either a Japanese psn account or on the official site

5. What is the gameplay like?

Its an action rpg featuring the return of some of the series' classical elements such as the world map and airships. Using a similar action style as Crisis core. Though unlike Crisis core, Type 0 is party based and allows you to switch characters in mid battle. Triangle is your basic attack where as circle is your special attack. Special attacks use up you're gauge and can't be use once its completely empty. To raise the gauge you have to actually land regular attacks on enemies. For certain characters, using directional inputs for basic attack will cause a different attacks to happen.

offensive magic is done with square while defensive magic is done with X. . Moving and pressing X however will cause you to dodge. When enemies are down, you can steal "Phantoma" from them by locking on to them with the R button and pressing circle while locked on. Phantoma replenishes some of your MP and can be used later on for customizing

There is also a feature called kill sights. Kill sights is basically a critical hit that when used at the right time can instant kill enemies. However if against a strong enemy it won't instant kill them becoming a "break sight" instead. Break sights only do critical damage and is NOT an instant kill

And finally, pressing the circle and triangle button together lets you use and control a summon. HOWEVER, using a summon will kill off whatever character you're using for the rest of the mission. Summons only last for a set amount of time, but deal a high amount of damage. Alternatively, if you want to still deal great damage and not lose a character for summoning you can use a group attack called Trinity attack. Not as powerful as a summon, but still deals out great damage with no risk of losing a character

6. What is the customization like?

Type-0 features its own "Crystarium" like in FFXIII. Though here its referred to as Alto Crystarium. It'll allow you to power up the characters' magic using an energy called "Phantoma", drawn from defeated monsters, to restore or fortify magic. Phantoma can be used in the Alto Crystarium to power up the characters' magic. Depending on the type of magic, the character can power up their magic in different areas. For example, a character's Fire RF magic can be powered up in strength, MP usage, call time, projectile distance and speed.

There are three different kinds of magic elements for offensive damage. Fire, Ice and Thunder. However Type-0 lets you customize this further by letting you choose how to go about using these spells. As of now, there are only 5 different types of magic patterns revealed

- Shotgun(SHG): This type spreads at multiple height levels. It doesn't travel far, but is
powerful against close enemies.

- Rifle(RF): This type shoots out straight in the direction of the target. It travels far but has narrow range.

- Bomb(BOM): This type is effective in your immediate surroundings. It can be useful against quick enemies and small enemies.

- Missile(MIS): This type chases after the enemy before releasing its magic. The higher level (that is, the magic with the "ra" and "ga" at the end of their names) will expand to encompass surroundings.

- Rocket Launcher(ROK): When you begin casting this type, a target will appear. The magic will fire in the direction that you aim. When it strikes, it will explode and damage enemies in the surroundings.

Characters and summons can also learn new abilities through ability points. Both characters and summons can gain ability points to either learn new moves, or upgrade already existing attacks. AP is gained by leveling up

7. Who are the main characters?

The main characters are from a group called Class Zero. A top ranking class in Rubrum's Magic Academy. Each character wields their own unique weapon. Info from the FF wiki and ff-type0.net

- No.01 Ace: A blond boy who wields a deck of cards and is said to be the primary protagonist within Class Zero. His speech and actions are exceptionally impressive. Though usually calm, he has a reckless side and will sometimes rush off and act out of anger. Ace has low defense, but is a quick ranged character.

No.02 Deuce: A brunette girl who wields a flute. She is very loyal to her duties at Class Zero, and she is kind-hearted and good-natured, even if she can be a bit stubborn. Deuce can manipulate the pitch of her instrument that will cause different effects in battle.

- No.03 Trey: A blond-haired youth armed with a bow and arrow. He's a calm, well-
mannered person, but is actually very chatty. Trey is a long distance fighter that can hit enemies from afar. It is said that he has the longest range in the game

- No.04 Cater: A female member of Class Zero with short, flared red hair who wields a gun which fires magically charged bullets. She's very confident and direct, but also tends to be competitive. Cater uses a pistol but without conventional bullets. Instead, it fires magic in the form of magical projectiles.

- No.05 Cinque: A young lady with brown, braided hair who fights using a mace. Her unusual personality and unpredictable actions tend to cause others to stay away from her. Cinque swings her huge mace at her enemies and attacks with heavy blows. She can combo and charge her attacks. She has the slowest attacks of the cast

- No.06 Sice: A girl who wields a scythe as a weapon, she isn't very good with words but has good judgment. Sice has a close-ranged aggressive battle style. Some of her attacks allow her to strike and move away from the enemy at the same time

- No.07 Seven: A gray-haired girl that carries an extending chain whip. While her expressions are somewhat cold, she is kind and good-natured. Sevenís sword-whip is able to come apart and damage enemies at both close and long range.

- No.08 Eight: A young martial artist with short hair who wears a pair of knuckles. His combat style reflects his dislike of weapons, which he believes takes lives away too easily. Eight fights with a close range style

- No.09 Nine: A young man with a scarred face and disheveled uniform who wields a spear. Impulsive and straightforward, he sees the world in black and white and only feels satisfied when things aren't complicated. He fights with an aggressive style which can be used closed and mid ranged

- No.11 Jack: A young man with coiffed blond hair that fights using a katana. He seems to always have a smile and is able to make wise-cracks easily. Jackís play style is heavily involved with timed sword strikes

- No.12 Queen: A young woman with long black hair and trademark glasses who wields a longsword. She's referred to as the team's class president, and her dignified appearance and intelligence suit her name. Queen is a close range fighter with great speed

- No.13 King: A young man who looks cold, but is actually kind-hearted who wields two guns. His bullets are infinite, but still must be reloaded after a set number of shots. King specializes in ranged combat

The last two members do not have a number, but are still apart of the group.

- Machina Kunagiri: A young man with dark hair and an elegant red cloak who fights using a pair of screw-shaped rapiers. He recently transferred into Class Zero. Machina is a slow, close range fighter who is capable of using lengthy combos

- Rem Tokimiya: A young woman with short brown hair that dual wields daggers. She was transferred into Class Zero along with Machina. Rem is the only character who can double cast magic.

8. Who are the summons

The summons, referred to as Gods of war in this game are monsters you can control in battle. Created from the crystal, they help out the players, at the price of a character being removed from a mission for the remainder of the battle. Known summons so far include

Ifrit
Diablos
Golem
Bahamut
Odin
Shiva

9.What is the setting?
Type-0 takes place in the fictional land of Orience, which is divided into four nations known as the Suzaku Fiefdom of Rubrum, the Milites Empire, the Lorican Alliance, and the Kingdom of Concordia. Each of the nations is blessed with a crystal that grants them unique powers. The four nations coexisted peacefully until Cid Aulstyne, High Commander of the Milites Empire, broke the peace treaty and invaded the other countries for their crystals. In an effort to stop him, Class Zero began to organize "Operation Apostle", a covert mission to recapture the crystal and defeat the Milites forces.

10. Is there online?
Yes. It supports both Ad-hoc and Infrastructure multiplayer for up to three players. This is manifested not in full-scale multiplayer, but as an emergency backup when the player's party is about to be wiped out. There is a time limit however to how long you can remain on the field with a partner. But depending on how you play, this time can be exteneded

11. Where can I find more info and updates?

The final fantasy wiki has a great collective of information gathered on this game so far.

And ff-type0.net is great for keeping up with the recent updates

Thank you for reading. Enjoy
