Lol, really? He must be anxious to reveal the information if he's doing that often.

He really gets pissed off over it, because while he likes his job, it gets frustrating for him when Square Enix executives tell his division "Okay, guys, instead of releasing Kingdom Hearts 3, have fun advertising the latest sidestory that you need to buy a new console for! Oh, and while you're at it, try to keep hype up for our vaporware!"

Btw, Toriyama and Kitase are now in Paris. They are going to start a tour soon in order to promote Lightning Returns, starting in Europe and finishing it in North America.

I wonder if they are doing this in order to avoid showing the game at E3 because of the next-gen consoles and games or if it means that the game is far in development.

Lightning Returns is probably very far in development since overall they just have to reuse content that already exists and alter or add on to it just enough to look like it's worth a purchase.

As far as I'm concerned, the longer they're busy with their Lightning garbage, the better, because there's less reason to worry that Squeenix will allow Toriyama to further butcher what used to be an awesome female protagonist. Though on the flipside I'd rather see Lightning Returns fail hard because I think Toriyama to an extent deliberately ruined Aya because like all true hacks, he felt threatened that the return of Aya as an awesome female protagonist could get in the way of his precious Lightning being seen as the company's top and only strong female protagonist.

This makes sense, fits in with my theory about how Square Enix won't remake FF VII in order to keep all the focus on Lightning. I'll ask my buds about it, though I'm not sure if they are close enough to Toriyama to know his "ulterior motives". The Third Birthday was one of the best games on the PSP, I'll give him that, along with Resistance Retribution, Ratchet and Clank Size Matters, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, and maybe Dissidia.

@ PaladinCecil

Even if Toriyama wasn't the writer that doesn't stop SE from including fanservice again. Nomura was the one who had the idea of the clothes-ripping mechanic and there were some people from the Internet who asked for a shower scene.

Although to be honest I'm a bit worried about how he will portray the characters through their lines. ( I mean if he will put some silly lines or not)

Toriyama was responsible for the script. The script made Aya out to be a pathetically weak, cowardly womanchild eagerly submissive to authority and constantly talked about first and foremost for her physical attractiveness, and he turned Maeda into a self-insert of his creepy pervert ways. While Tabata was to blame for the gameplay mechanic, the heavily sexually suggestive outfits especially the fetish ones, the making her personality change based on her costume (Japan), and of course the shower scene, Toriyama did something far, far worse. Tabata, through visuals and gameplay mechanics, tried to draw attention to Aya's sex appeal as the most important thing about her, but it was Toriyama that went out of his way to utterly destroy Aya's entire personality and identity as a strong female protagonist.

As for the people on the internet clamoring for a shower scene. First of all, at first Tabata was adamant they wouldn't include such a scene, meaning that in the end just like what he said about the purpose of the clothes-ripping-off mechanic, he outright LIED about the content of the game. I'd normally give some slack under "they shouldn't be bound by past statements if they want to change," but this happened with a game that did just about everything that was possible to ruin Aya Brea. Secondly, just because a bunch of people say "We want you to do this!" does NOT instantly mean it should be done. If the fans said they wanted Toriyama and Tabata included in 3rd Birthday as Aya's whipping boys that she gets to kick in the nuts and call sissies whenever she likes, does that mean it should be added into the game?

Personally, I would have been fine with a shower scene, if 1) Aya Brea was treated with the respect she deserves in the rest of the game, and 2) it was in the same vein as PE2. Meaning, it could be taken as artistic and maybe having a purpose in the story rather than being some shoddily tossed in crap that's on the thin edge of softcore porn territory.

Indeed. Some of the greatest, iconic female characters are strong, take-charge types, business types. I'm not against the fetish costumes because it's like when Capcom puts in fun, weird costumes. But I think that the plot is a far bigger issue than characterization in this situation.
