I know it's not out yet, and I can't seem to find a demo or other way to simply test the performance. I'd love to buy it when it comes out, but I don't want to spend $50 on something my system can't handle well. It meet the minimum requirements, but not by much, I don't think. I know relatively few people have hands-on experience with the PC version thus far, but I'm wondering if somebody who knows about these things will be able to tell me if I should go for it or not.

Minimum:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4 GHz
Memory: 1.0 GB (Windows XP) 1.5 GB (Windows Vista)
Video: 256 MB Nvidia 7900 / 256 MB ATI X1900

Recommended:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1 GHz
Memory: 2.5 GB (Windows XP) 2.5 GB (Windows Vista)
Video: 512 MB Nvidia 8600 / 512 MB ATI 3870

My Laptop:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
Memory: 4 GB (Vista)
Video: 256 MB Nvidia 8600M GT

...like I said, it meets the minimum (I think), I just want to know if it's going to be a pain to play

You meet the recommended settings (more or less). It should run at medium with some high settings.

I doubt my laptop will run the game but I don't even know how to find the specs. All I know is that it has an intel pentium 4. I'm guessing that's a no?

If you wanna check if GTA 4 will work or not just go to this site:- http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

It is one the very best site which will compare your computer and the game specs and will tell you places where you lack in and how to improve it.It will ask to install an add-one which takes a matter of seconds and can be easily uninstalled. It it completly safe as gamespot uses the same engine for the game specs.I did it too and am happy with the result.

That is actually one of the most unreliable sites known to man. Actually, they all suck. They're definitely a good point of reference, but they aren't particularly accurate.

Sorry, didn't see this post. If you want to check, do the following:

Start > Run > dxdiag

It will list your CPU/Processor and RAM/Memory on the first page. If you click on the 'display' tab at the top, you can see what graphics card you have too.

I have a 7600 GT. Would I not get the game to run at all? or I would I just get a somewhat shaky framerate?

All games refuse to play on laptops and may cause the laptop to explode.

7600 might run but you will get bad framerates.

This game is more cpu dependant though.
